Tu y Yo
Hermanos Mino Naranjo Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
La mía es pálida y mustia
Tú eres la paz, yo la angustia
Yo el abismo, tú la cumbre
Eres dulzura hechicera
Y amargo dolor me diste
A veces pienso olvidarte
The lyrics of Hermanos Mino Naranjo's song "Tu y Yo" portray a contrast between two individuals who are in love with each other but are very different in character. The first verse establishes their dichotomy, where one person's forehead is described as bright like fire, while the other's is pale and dull. One is peaceful while the other is anxious, with one being the peak of the mountain while the other is the abyss. One is an enchanting sweetness while the other is a bitter pain. They are two halves of a whole, incomplete without each other.
In the second verse, the singer describes his lover's eyes as shining like the sun, illuminating his soul with something prickly, possibly thorns. He tells his lover that they are his perpetual sun of desire, then asks why they cannot melt the snow of this winter, which could refer to the coldness between them or a hardship in their lives. Even though their love is intense, it brings both joy and torment. The singer is melancholy and torn, acknowledging that his love for his companion is like an oasis in his harsh environment.
The third verse is about the magnificence of love. For a person with a cold heart, it is a blossoming flower upon a wound. Sometimes he wishes to forget his love and abandon this tender passion, but he cannot bear to leave his companion's love. It is far too precious to dismiss or put aside. Love is shown to be a celestial fire that burns within the singer, illuminating his way forward in what would, without it, be an arid and colorless world.
