Blow
Hi$to Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
There's ole Green with her sewing machine
Where's the bobbinet?
Tote an old grain in a printed sack
The dust blows forward n' the dust blows back
And the wind blows black through the sky
And the smokestack blows up in the sun's eye
What am I, gonna die?
Bubbles popped big
And a lick - and a lipstick Kleenex
Hung on a pointed forked twig
Reminds me of the bobby girls
Never was my hobby girls
Hand full o'worms and a pole fishin'
Cork bobbin' like a hot red bulb
And a bluejay squeaks
His beak open an inch above a creek
Gone fishin' for a week
Well, I put down my bush
And I took off my pants and felt free
The breeze blowin' up me and up the canyon
Far as I could see it's night now
And the moon looks like a dandelion
It's black now
And the blackbird's feedin' on rice
And his red wings
Look like diamonds and lice
I could hear the mice toes scamperin'
Gophers rumblin' in pile crater rock holes
One red bean stuck in the
Bottom of a tin bowl
Hot coffee from a crimped-up can
Me and my girl named Bimbo Limbo Spam
The lyrics of Hi$to's song "Blow" paint a vivid and poetic picture of various scenes and emotions. The song begins by introducing two characters, Gray and Green, each with their own unique attributes. The mention of Gray wearing a dove-winged hat and Green with her sewing machine creates a sense of visual imagery and sets the tone for the surreal and whimsical nature of the song.
The line "Where's the bobbinet?" is a reference to missing or lost things, perhaps symbolizing a sense of longing or searching for something that is elusive. This line could also represent a feeling of confusion or disorientation in the singer's mind.
As the song continues, the dust becomes a recurring motif. The dust blowing forward and backward illustrates the cyclical nature of life, with time and events repeating themselves. The wind blowing black implies a gloomy atmosphere, while the smokestack blowing up in the sun's eye suggests a contrast between industrialization and the natural world.
The line "What am I, gonna die?" encapsulates a feeling of mortality and existential contemplation. This moment of reflection seems to arise from witnessing a white flake riverboat passing by. The imagery of bubbles popping and a lipstick Kleenex hung on a forked twig implies a sense of transience and fragility.
The mention of "bobby girls" and the singer's disinterest in them suggests a detachment from conventional interests or pursuits. Instead, the singer prefers fishing with a hand full of worms and a bobbing cork, enjoying the simplicity and serenity of the activity. A bluejay squeaking above a creek adds further layers of natural imagery.
The following lines depict the singer's sense of liberation and freedom. They put down their bush (referring to a plant or shrub) and take off their pants, symbolizing the shedding of inhibitions and restraints. The breeze blowing up the canyon provides a sense of tranquility and openness, with the vastness of the night sky and the moon resembling a dandelion.
As night falls, the blackbird feeding on rice creates an image of contrasting colors - red wings resembling both diamonds and lice. This juxtaposition suggests the coexistence of beauty and imperfection in the world. The mention of mice toes scampering and gophers rumbling in rock holes adds a sense of movement and activity in nature.
The song concludes with a simple scene of having hot coffee from a crimped-up can, accompanied by the singer's partner, Bimbo Limbo Spam. This line represents a moment of shared intimacy and contentment amidst the observations and reflections presented throughout the song.
Overall, "Blow" by Hi$to captures a unique blend of imagery, contemplation, and freedom. The lyrics invite the listener to immerse themselves in the surreal world portrayed and reflect on the beauty and transience of life.

I just installed a rebuild kit for the 80. I wanted to thank Hiblow for designing their pump to be so easy to service.
@ja-wu4wn
Many thanks for what is obviously great customer service. I came looking just to clarify the two types of safety and found the exact answer I was looking for. While I appreciate my septic company, I appreciate even more not needing to call them out for an emergent weekend visit to sell me a rebuilt pump when I can spend pennys on the dollar to rebuild it myself. Much appreciated.

Recently had to replace mine and the plumber offered a rebuild pump for 1/2 price. $300. Well, I kept the old one and ordered your kit, easy to install and now I have a spare.
