THE START:

At the end of 2011, Guitarist Steve Weston (from Southend, and Runs RAYGUN FX pedals) and bassist Lee Yates swapped demos and soon began work on recording two EPs which was release in Aug 2012.

Mixing their influences of 90’s grunge and alt.rock bands such as Feeder, Weezer, Bob Mould & Ash, High/Low was born.

In 2013 they ran a successful Kickstarter campaign to fund their debut full length album, ‘Stuck In A Void’, which was released 30 May 2014.

In late 2014, drummer Dave Pankhurst joined the band as a full time.  They later released their first recording with their new drummer, titled ‘Autospy’ in Jan 2016.

In June 2016 The band took some time off to work on other projects.

2018

After almost a 2 year break, HIGH/LOW returned April 1st 2018 with a release exclusively for record store Day. 2 brand new tracks on very limited 7” Vinyl and CD. The Vinyl sold out in minutes!

Our new release ’Skeletons’ is coming 27th July 2018 on 10” Vinyl, CD & Download.  We recorded it in May 2018 and produced ourselves in our own studio.
Tracked in just 3 days, the recording is raw and spontaneous.

“We wanted to release something short and direct before we worked on our next full length album, after recording the 2 tracks for our Record Store Day release, that set the direction.  It’s nice to not pick apart every bass drum hit, or every vocal note, and worry about it being on the grid. If it feels right, it’s right!”  Steve Weston (Vocals & Guitar)  The songs we chose for this mini album are short and fun, with most tracks around the 2 minute mark, it squeezes in fuzzy riffs and summery melodies together with the HIGH/LOW sound.

The artwork was all hand made by Steve. He collected a bunch of old magazines and cut out 100’s of pieces, then glued them together and made a collage that just matched the sound of the album.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of High/Low's "Echoes" tell a story of feeling trapped and suffocated by society's expectations and pressures. Playing on mobile, sometimes the delay is so bad on large amounts of Anemo Damage that I can use an entire Kazuha or Sucrose Burst and have no enemies take any damage until seconds after the Burst ends and all of the damage starts piling on at once. Which is infuriating because it still counts their deaths once the game actually registers them occurring and not when they would have happened 2-3 seconds, maybe even more, sooner.

I once played Genshin in a hotel room with 300+ ping, it sometimes took 10+ seconds just to switch characters in battle.

Oh god I also had to experience this recently cuz my wifi wasn't working work so I was playing on mobile data. And it was SO BAD. It legit to like 2-3 seconds for a hit to even register. Sometimes I was there spamming attack but it did nothing to the enemy but after a few seconds all of those hits registered and enemy just died instantly. It was such a weird experience

This set was bs to begin with, they should have just made it give us an atk speed increase. I don't know why they overcomplicate these artifacts. Atk speed would actually be a gameplay improvement too

atk sp isnt really a good stat on melee characters because of hit lag, meaning you would even get the advertised atk sp increase by quite a lot. its only good on ranged normal attacks which do no not have hitlag

Genshin is bringing more problematic mechanics to the game because they refuse to make characters too broken. The bigger problem is the length of time it takes them to resolve these issues. The moment an issue is fixed, the players no longer want to play the character.

For jade cutter, Heart of depth is the best set, reason being jade cutter gives so much raw stats that the damage bonus from HoD is more worth it compared to the Haran, which gives so much NA bonus that attack becomes more valuable

@Lucas Vasconcelos Gladiator is the most consistent and highest damage with Ayato's E. AYato's Q is just as useful as his E though and Gladiator does less for it than HoD. HoD is good for his E and his Q and still isn't far behind Gladiator anyway.

still not, Echoes still deals slightly better damage when using Jade Cutter, and you're ignoring other damage bonus sources like Mona, Yunjin C2, Sucrose C6, Kazuha, etc. But if you have high ping, it's better to use Gladiator anyways.

It really depends on your substats, weapon of choice and so much more. I've seen HoD underperform in comparison to Gladiator quite a few times. And it's hardly that much of a difference.

Tbh unless you have characters who can benefit from both off the new sets like xiao and ayato for example then really there’s no reason to try going for either set.

It's good to know! I have 40 to 50 ms when the servers are not overloaded with a new update can people jumping on at the same time. MS number also affects how Ganyu ult damage hits as well... sheesh.

The problem of new domain:
-Its artifact domain, so expect a monthly or even yearly resin dump
-lack of versatility, unlike EoSF that can be used more than 50% characters, this domain has little percentage of characters that actually use it
The randomness of effect. I played alot of game with random mechanic (dice in yugioh, low acc high damage weapon in rpg, cantrips spell in chocobo dungeon) and belief me they are no more than a gimmick and dont expect people to actually use that aside from "fun" factor

I honestly think the best part about this domain is that you can get guaranteed +18% attack two piece bonus artifacts. If you have a ton of characters who want two piece +18% attack then this domain isn't bad but that's a very specific scenario.

so basically every artifact domain ever. The effect of the artifact is pseudo-random, it will eventually hit 100% (it will increase your 4th attack by 70% if you fail every hit), its not a gimmick as matter of fact it is often used in moba. It's created that way because of Ayato 6th constellation.

Having an RNG element to a set effect was a bad idea in the first place. Set effects should be consistent and just give straight up gains. Weapon effects having RNG is annoying but at least those are often just complimentary buffs unlike sets where it's meant to be the meat of one's build.

@spyrothetimelord I don't think so because that's assuming they designed the set after they finished up designing Ayato's constellations which is unlikely since the design process for new characters, specialized sets, and weapons are often done all at the same time so if it was too "broken" for C6, they would have changed the constellation, not the set effect. I think the explanation is simpler - they really just wanted to try something new and experiment with an RNG-based set effect to see if they can do more of it moving forward.

Like a chance to hit on the first or second but will always hit third and fourth, then chance resets etc idk

Trust me you do not want them to outsource any combat calculation, hit box registers or similar to your client....you still need to send a message to the server with the results of these calculations (hence you need a good connection anyway) and things become laggy as fuck for you (which is how every modern fps shooter does it, hence the shitty hit registration compared to games of the 90s). Render on the server what is due on the server and only outsource things to the client when absolutely necessary.

A screen can refresh at 120hz, and a game could run that well, but if they are constant stutters, frame time graph gonna look like a heart monitor.

Hi Mtashed! The plume of death is actually the best artifact set if you pair Ayato with Yunjin and Bennett because the damage boost to normal attacks is separated from Bennett and Yunjin's attack damage boost. The new artifact is the worst set if u pair Ayato with supports.

People in the Ayato mains discord have been reporting this bug for days, Hoyoverse replied to some of our tickets asking for some Vid/pic proof so they can report it to the Dev team. So guys if you wanna help, go to the genshin impact CS and submit a ticket with the follwing keywords "Echoes of an Offering". "Proc rate", "ping" and "Bug". They are aware of this problem already so the more people report this bug for them the better the chance that they will fix it (somehow). That's how the YaeMains made hyv revert Yae targeting AI back.

Ask them to rework the RNG BS would be much better. Say no to RNG on artifacts. We already had enough of RNG on obtaining artifacts and rolling for artifact substat. We had enough of that. Would prefer some straight up non-overcomplicated value like "4-piece artifact set increases ATK by 80%" or "4-piece artifact set increases DMG by 40%" or something like that.

It's ridiculous how the ping your playing affect a specific set or your overall damage . Hoyoverse has to fix this and make the ratios hit as they are reflected in paper.

I swear this is a problem with other RNG-based skills even when the RNG isn't connected and updating like the artifact has to do. When I play Noelle on 160-200 ping range her healing will sometimes not come off for the whole duration of your charged attack, my theory being the charged attacks may hit too fast for the healing chance to calculate in time before the next one and the result keeps carrying over. I think this because the opposite also happens on occasion, so it must depend on what the first result is before the delay starts.

I decided to do the same for the Hydro set cuz I want the Blizzard set for Ayaka when she reruns soon. It's worth much more for the resin I use cuz the other set for Xiao is useless for me, I don't have him. It's much more efficient to farm for 2 sets at the same time on 2 characters you're going to main.

I've had that exact issue with the echo set. I tried out a few pieces with ayato. Not the best pieces, but just for the heck of it. I normally have horrible ping because I play on asia server when I live in NA (you do whatever you have to for your friends). That set has been giving me issues ever since and it's a good thing I didn't invest anything into the artifacts. The only thing I regret is trying to get pieces from that domain since the rng is particularly bad 😅

Fun fact, on PlayStation you don't have to try to animation cancel with charge shots. L2 ADS the bow and then R2 makes the shot and as long as you continue to hold down L2 the shot starts charging right away.

the probability of the set bonus is being calculated by the server so you hitting with 100ms latency and based on how server data is prioritized then it may register the raw damage from the hit before calculating the odds of the set effect activating. it happens with building and shooting in Fortnite as well. the only way I can think of to fix or minimize this issue is to make the calculations for the set bonus calculated locally on the player's device.... that might add more processing overhead but I can't imagine it's that bad. should be less than a 2fps hit in most cases

the numebers ive seen around for the echoes vs HoD for ayato are based around 2 big things, 1: there calcs are solo dmg most of the time, atk buffing does have the same amount, but if you add in yunjin then HoD is better. 2:this one if find vary important especially for mtashed case is talent levels, alot of what ive seen around are more or less basing it off talent 8 or 9 because not everyone is going to get lvl 10, earlyer stat calcs were also only basing it off first hit, and even i did this and should more so base off average of the 3 hits. well HoD scales with any talent scaling that does happen and the HP scaling(even know its 20%+ of the dmg). so lvl 10 in atlest none whale territory of weapons well have it just that tad better with HoD, Mtashed also uses jade cutter so the HP scaling also gets somewhere to

The 2 new sets are soooo good that they added to the Abyss rewards. /s I'd rather lose a bit of damage per screenshot but i don't want the rng damage of that set, so i stick with x4 Gladiator and an odd hydro goblet.

I feel like they have to make effects that aren't affected by ping, since that would suck if a player can't use a set they grinded out for due to lag or anything, they have to consider that in the future or else we get more issues, like this isn't the first time i heard of things not working due to ping, like xinyan apparently has the issue where her skill doesn't always work and people are saying its due to ping, or a bug, which means they should have already known something like that could happen.

echoes set is not that much better than the other sets if at all and there's a limited number of characters that really benefit from the set. It works for Ayato who has low damage multiplier, but does not work as well on Yoimiya who has much higher damage multipliers towards the end of her normal attack. I would only farm this set if I have Xiao.

I think hoyoverse can do jackshit about since its just a server issue. If you have bad ping then sucks to be you i guess. Only way to fix it is is to place more servers.

I not sure if thats the only bug about zhongli pillar and ayato. Its happen to on some enemy when are to close to each other. the problem is some hits dont do damage.

my level 80 talents level 1 ayato is doing around 21k per hit using 4piece gladiator set and a R5 black sword, i was undecisive on to farm that new domain or not. Thank you Mtashed for bringing this up, im not touching that domain either until they come up with a hotfix.

You know I never considered ping to be the reason why mpst things feel so weird in the game e.g. dodging, If you foght the electro samachurl and try to dodge its big charge towards you, 7/10 it will fail and you would get knocked back and stun locked by it and I always found the inconsistency annoying but never thought that it was the ping.

My ping never goes higher than 250-260 ms. It usually stays at 196 ms or lower. When in co-op it can go higher. But I'm staying away from this artifact set, there are better options.

I got a 4 psc echoes by spending 900 resin now
And my ayato stats are 75% crit rate and 210% crit damage 😌
But I have to say something like HOD and shimenawa are much more consistent than echoes

I wouldn't say this set is the best in slot for Ayato just because of how many varianles there are and you simply can't control all of them.
Can it be the best in slot for him? Yes, occasionally. But even with high crit rate you may still get it to underperform in comparison to other sets.

I live in Japan but play on the NA server since I wanted to play with my friends. I suffer this with League of Legends too but I figured if I can bite the bullet on that game where 200 ping actually matters a LOT, then I can deal with it in a PVE game and didn't think it would be an issue. Got Ayato and waited a week to farm this set for him to make sure it was his BiS before wasting resin. Feels pretty bad, I have to say... I don't know how they'll fix this but I hope they do *something*...

I haven't farming Echoes as of yet cause I'm busy farming the blizzard set for Ayaka and good to know that it has that kind of problem I'm always at yellow ping and sometimes red 115ms to 999ms

Thankfully I think in my friend group I'm the only one gunning for this set but it's good to know regardless. I don't have high ping so this shouldn't be an issue for me, but I hope they'll fix it for people who want to use it but might have bad connection at times/higher ping @.@. Like it should work regardless but I guess the way it's set up might make that difficult to adjust.

I'm not 100% sure i understand the issue with Ayato that they've discovered and that will be fixed by 3.0 (mentioned in the update summary) but I wonder if that also has any affect on this problem too?

Seka tested it in many cases. It is not bugged. It just resets if you delay your NA.

Mainly a PS5 player, for Ganyu I just hold down the left trigger and tap the right trigger to shoot. I just tried it on PC and I press R to always be in aim shot then just click the mouse to shoot when it's charged. I don't need to do any animation cancel, the bow never goes down, she's always in aim shot mode.

I have a similar problem with my yoimiya my ping is around 60-70 most of the time but when it gets higher ti around 110 my yoimiya starts taking more time to do the animation instead of doing the next normal attacks and this my not seem tgat bad but with a full team in the abyss this is about 100 k lost per e rotation

i am someone who plays constantly on atleast(the best) 350ms. I have been been playing this game a while now and I think now I can do rotations smoothly but the ping lags me down, it used to be very annoying and not smooth at all, but now I am kinda used to it. I play on asia server and from India, if you guys have any suggestion on improving the latency then tips will be really appreciated

C6 Xiao apparently also affected by ping too, there's a time when I'm lagging and C6 Xiao doesn't proc.

Yeah I'm not going near that domain. I already have a great HoD/Glad set with amazing sub stats and the damage difference between a full glad set and echoes is almost nonexistent. Chances are you probably already have a good glad/hod, and I personally don't like the whole rng thing anyways

Xiao 2pc glad 2pc shim and ayato 4pc glad, and maybe i'll continue to farm some hod too for alternative, havent got really lucky with the 4pc glad stats

I didn't know ping mattered. I have only experience that it lags a lot when the ping is unstable and changes a lot constantly although the ping may be low as 30-40

Thanks for the heads up because I play with 200+ ping (I'm from South Africa and the nearest server is the European server.) I will just stick with the Hearts of Depth set for my Ayato.

This 4pc Echoes set DOES NOT affect the delay (ping) from a moment. Dealing/Taking damage will count as delay depemding on your latency.

Unlike 4pc Shimenawa's energy drain will happen the delay upon casting E-skill (depending on latency) — Reference: KQM TCL

As I said, 4pc Echoes does not happen the delay.

I think echos set are better than HoD and Gladiator when you fight grouping enemy. But if you fight a boss, HoD and Glad are better.

The only bright side here is that at least the 2 piece set for both artifact sets still work and +18% attack is pretty universal. Otherwise if you even set foot in that domain, it would've been a total waste of resin.

I average 250 ping, because I'm a player from Oceania and the Asia server is the best I can get. Thanks for the info. Luckily I have Ayato on a pretty stacked Gladiator's set, so he already decimates. I guess I'll have to wait to see if they fix the set or not.

I'm using the hod set cause of the hydro bonus and the 4p passive and also I skiped the domain cause I have 999 ping sooooo yeah basically what would only work is the 2p atk on the set plus I already have a some really good HOD peices on ayato its just a better hydro cup I need to find

This is the first domain I actually had luck with and built Ayato perfectly and it does less dmg than my bad HoD set. This explains why he sometimes hits 2k sometimes 20k with it, I really hope they fix it

Playing on mobile and having high ping especially in abyss is actual pain. Like if I use Venti's ult and the mobs die ill have to wait for the dead mobs to disappear (when the ult finishes) for new enemies to spawn in. Such a time loss

Oh shit, now I don't know what to do. I have HoD and Echoes set for Ayato, but I find Echoes is a bit better (I think because in his Echoes set he has higher atk even with less crit dmg). I live in SEA, so my internet is always modCheck. Maybe I just have to farm HoD+Blizzard domain after all, I may can rebuild my Ayaka and give her more crit dmg. But I wanna rebuild my Xiao too😞

Hi Mtashed. I have been playing the game for over a year since February 2021 and never have I missed all their in game events. Everyday I finish my daily commission and I am a welkins and battle pass user. Everyone please don't farm Echoes Artifact domain if you don't need Vermillon Artifact or you are a green ping player. Echoes is not that bad but you know, if you are a yellow ping player like me then PLEASE choose Heart Of DEPTH or Gladiator Than Echoes!

I’m from the US and my ms/ping usually 50-70. Sometimes I can’t quite remember if goes high up. But, do you think I should give up farming Echoes? Because I’m wasting my time, trying to get good base/sub stats. Which I only needing Sand and Circlet. For now. My Ayato is running on gladiator sets. Which have good base/sub stats. I think for me he’s doing good with it.

Honestly i spend so many time in that HOD/Blizzard domain ever since it was released because i have Childe, and i’ve been constantly looking for better artifact sub stats for him. Ofc along the way i keep some worthy ones. Most of the times, i get Blizzard set instead of HOD. I have no plans whatsoever to change Xiao’s set + got extra of HODs = i dont care about that domain. I give my extra HODs to Ayato. Good to go~

Yeah this domain's a pretty easy skip for anyone that doesn't have Xiao, and it doesn't seem worth farming even for him. I'm a little annoyed that they've changed to these pieces for Spiral Abyss rewards; I have little or no use for them. Seems like I'll be farming Blizzard for eternity anyway so I'm glad to have someone that can make good use of the HOD set.

That is why you must not bring Rng to ping-reliant fighting. Inconsistency can affect so bad to the gameplay like Yae Miko

so basically if you have high enough ping to hit two or more attacks and them not registering till after they all hit the artifact registers only one of the hits as proc which makes this artifact inconsistent for high ping players

Im still gonna farm this domain because I have Xiao and Ayato but not gonna farm it hardcore my xiao needs better atk% his glad artifacts suck so this really is the best domain for me now. My ayato has good glad artifacts so im not gonna farm this hardcore just until I get good enough pieces
