THE START:
At the end of 2011, Guitarist Steve Weston (from Southend, and Runs RAYGUN FX pedals) and bassist Lee Yates swapped demos and soon began work on recording two EPs which was release in Aug 2012.
Mixing their influences of 90’s grunge and alt.rock bands such as Feeder, Weezer, Bob Mould & Ash, High/Low was born.
In 2013 they ran a successful Kickstarter campaign to fund their debut full length album, ‘Stuck In A Void’, which was released 30 May 2014.
In late 2014, drummer Dave Pankhurst joined the band as a full time. They later released their first recording with their new drummer, titled ‘Autospy’ in Jan 2016.
In June 2016 The band took some time off to work on other projects.
2018
After almost a 2 year break, HIGH/LOW returned April 1st 2018 with a release exclusively for record store Day. 2 brand new tracks on very limited 7” Vinyl and CD. The Vinyl sold out in minutes!
Our new release ’Skeletons’ is coming 27th July 2018 on 10” Vinyl, CD & Download. We recorded it in May 2018 and produced ourselves in our own studio.
Tracked in just 3 days, the recording is raw and spontaneous.
“We wanted to release something short and direct before we worked on our next full length album, after recording the 2 tracks for our Record Store Day release, that set the direction. It’s nice to not pick apart every bass drum hit, or every vocal note, and worry about it being on the grid. If it feels right, it’s right!” Steve Weston (Vocals & Guitar) The songs we chose for this mini album are short and fun, with most tracks around the 2 minute mark, it squeezes in fuzzy riffs and summery melodies together with the HIGH/LOW sound.
The artwork was all hand made by Steve. He collected a bunch of old magazines and cut out 100’s of pieces, then glued them together and made a collage that just matched the sound of the album.
You can pre-order the bands album on 10” Vinyl, CD & download from their record label www.instereorecords.co.uk

Don't you want it (maybe)
Can't you see it (kinda)
Imagine first audition after college I get the lead
(A part for me?) well of course
(Yeah right), you've gotta believe it
Keep talkin'
Sharpay and what's his name
Sound exciting (inviting)
Let's do it then (let's sing)
Personal stylist
Agent and a publicist
But where do I fit into this
With you we can win
Win the part (think bigger)
Become superstars (that's better)
Don't you see that bigger is better
And better is bigger
A little bit is ever enough, no no no
Don't you want it all
You want it, you know that you want it
The fame and the fortune and more
You want it all
You want it, you know that you want it
You gotta have your star on the door
You want the world nothing less
All the glam and the press
Only giving you the best reviews
Say it
I want it all
I want it, I want it, want it
My name in lights in Carnegie Hall
I want it all
Can't you see it (yeah)
They're gonna love me
Hmm mmm mmm, I mean, us
Red carpet, rose bouquets
Crowd waiting backstage
I'm with her, don't stop me
I'm not the paparazzi
Invitations, standing ovations
Magazines (yes please)
Gotta be celebrities
Photographs, fan club
Give the people what they love
Now you're excited (I like it)
Let's do it then (yeah)
Time Square, jet setter
Sequels, hey better
New York today
Tomorrow the world
Sold out shows (think bigger)
And the Oscar goes to (that's better)
Don't you see that bigger is better
And better is bigger
A little bit is never enough, no no no
I want it all
I want it, want it, want it
The fame and the fortune and more
I want it all
I want it, want it, want it
I gotta have my star on the door
I want the world nothing less
All the glam and the press
Only giving me the best reviews
I want it all
I want it, want it, want it
Radio City Music Hall
We want it all
Here in the spotlight we shine
Look at who we are
When Broadway knows your name
You know that you're a star

We want it all
"Give It All" by High/Low is a song about wanting to achieve all the success, fame and money possible. The song is narrated from the perspective of someone who imagines achieving everything they ever dreamed of - being a lead actor in a show, having a personal stylist, agent and publicist, walking the red carpet, and becoming a celebrity. They believe that bigger is better and are willing to do anything to achieve their dream. The song culminates with the chorus, "I want it all, the fame and the fortune and more, I gotta have my star on the door, I want the world nothing less."
The song is a commentary on the unquenchable thirst for success and the lengths people go to attain it. The lyrics are relatable as many people aspire to achieve great things in their lives. The song urges people to dream big and take risks to achieve their goals, but also highlights the dangers of being consumed by success.
