Saviour Of The World
Hillsong Worship Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

In the stillness of the night I gaze upon Your face
I am amazed at the One who I behold
For in Your eyes I see the Glory of the King
Your cloak of majesty, just simple swaddling clothes
And I hear angels sing

They cry Holy, to the King of Glory
Holy to the Righteous One
Holy for You alone are worthy

Jesus, Saviour of the world
Your innocence and helplessness astound me
I'm overwhelmed at this precious gift I hold
For I know that as I hold You here in my arms

I know that one day You will hold the world in Yours
And I hear angels sing
They cry Holy, to the King of Glory

Holy to the Righteous One
Holy for You alone are worthy
Jesus, Saviour of the world
I cry Holy, to the King of Glory

Holy to the Righteous One
Holy for You alone are worthy
Jesus, Saviour of the world
(I hear angels sing)
I cry Holy, to the King of Glory
Holy to the Righteous One

Holy for You alone are worthy
Jesus, Saviour of the world.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Hillsong Worship's song Saviour of the World speak of a profound moment of contemplation and adoration of Jesus Christ. The songwriter marvels upon the sight of the baby Jesus, wrapped in simple swaddling clothes, yet adorned with the cloak of majesty and glory befitting a king. In this moment, the songwriter is awe-struck by the innocence and helplessness of this precious gift and the realization of what this child will someday become. The chorus features a declaration of worship and honor to Jesus, the King of Glory, the righteous one, and the only one who is worthy of such adoration, giving voice to the angels that heralded Christ's birth.

The lyrics convey deep theological truths, rooted in the history of Christianity. With vivid imagery, the songwriter portrays the paradox of the incarnate God and His majesty, set against His humble beginnings on earth. They remind us that God chose to come to earth as an innocent and helpless baby, whose life would ultimately be a sacrifice for the salvation of humanity. The lyrics also express the hope and faith that Christ will one day return as the ruler of the world, holding all of creation in His hands.

Words so you can sing along.

A Saviour on a hill dying for my shame
Could this be true?
Defies the world I see
Yet this is all my heart was longing for
To know You my Lord
To know You Lord
You deserve
You deserve
You deserve all the praise
The heavens wept for You
The earth cried out "Could He be the One?"
For You so loved the world
You gave Your only Son to say
I love you so
Oh how I love You so
Hallelujah to the King
Hallelujah we will sing forever
And all humanity
Aches to find this beautiful love You give
We come to You again
To offer up our lives
To worship You alone
To worship You alone

@Subduemoviesplus

Who is here wanting a fresh renewal kind of true spirit driven worship songs of old hillsong than "these new ones"?! For me THERE IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN OLD HILLSONG MUSIC THAN THESE NEW ONES. I CHOOSE THE OLD..THEY WERE HAVING A REVIVAL but today I doubt it's just dried music.
