The original lineup was notable for having three guitars and no bass player, creating a distinctive, layered sound. Kimble Rendall left in 1982 before the release of their first single, Leilani, and went on to become a noted music video director. He was effectively replaced by bassist Clyde Bramley. Radalj was not happy with Rendall's departure or Faulkner's increasing influence, and left the band himself, to be replaced by one-time Fun Things guitarist Brad Shepherd. This line-up released the band's break-through first album, Stoneage Romeos, in 1984.
In 1998, the band officially split but reformed for occasional concerts in subsequent years. A full-fledged reunion came in 2004, when they released Mach Schau and began touring again. The band received another boost when Come Anytime (from 1989's Magnum Cum Louder) was used as the theme song to the Australian TV show Thank God You're Here.

Cause you're kinda way out too
Freaks me out this scence is mine
I ain't walking no straight line
Don't be late - Don't Hesitate
Form a circle!
You make me get my buzz on
Havin' you all is my goal
Reach right in and fuck my soul
Fornicate - appropriate
Form a circle!
If its good you gotta do it
Form a circle,get into,it
Go ahead,you can't hide it
Form a circle, don't you try to fight it
I can feel just where you are
You can never go too far
Same place,same time every week
Won't you turn the other cheek
Looking' good - it's understood - I wish you would!
The lyrics to the song "Form A Circle" by Hoodoo Gurus appear to express the desire for a sense of belonging and acceptance in a group of like-minded individuals, possibly within the context of some counterculture or subculture. The singer seems to be drawn to someone who is also considered an outsider or a "freak," and together they want to rebel against the mainstream and societal norms. The chorus urges the formation of a circle, which symbolically could represent a tight-knit community, a sense of unity, or even a ritualistic gathering.
The second verse further emphasizes the desire for this sense of belonging, with the singer likening it to achieving a personal goal. The use of the phrase "reach right in and fuck my soul" suggests a deep emotional connection and shared experiences. The final lines of the verse, "fornicate - appropriate," continue this theme of rebellion and going against what is considered socially acceptable or "normal."
The final chorus seems to urge listeners to embrace their true selves and not to be afraid to be a part of this counterculture community. The final line, "I wish you would," seems to express the singer's desire for others to also join in and embrace this alternative lifestyle.
Overall, the lyrics to "Form A Circle" appear to be an ode to the power of community, individuality, and the desire to break free from societal norms and expectations.
