Release
Hotline Miami OST - M.O.O.N. Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Can't remember when it all started
But it's all I know now
I used to think I didn't need to talk about it
But the truth was I didn't know how
So I held onto anything I felt I had control over
But over time it took control over me
I thought that nobody would ever need to know about it
But I wasn't doing as well as I seemed
And everybody thinks they're doing fine until they've gotta pay the price for their vices
Advice never followed
And the time in between always feels like it's borrowed
Falling apart at the seams 'til you swallow your pride
Realising you would have had an easier time, had you confided
Cause the weight gets heavier the longer that you carry it
I couldn't carry on
I had to find a way to manage it
Yeah
I said the weight gets heavier the longer that you carry it
I couldn't carry on
I had to find a way to manage it
This is everything I wish I could have said
My escape to get away from all the thoughts inside my head
A release from the feelings that are building up inside of me
My way of dealing with the other side of me
I used wanna hide it from the ones that I was close to
In denial of the issues i was going through
Never asked the question cause i didn't want the answer
Funny how acceptance was the only thing that gave me a chance to move past it
No more living in the past tense
Now I'm on top and it's all starting to make sense
Ever since I found a way to channel how I feel
And realised that I no longer had to deal with it all on my own
Cause I've grown since then
Shown myself that nowadays I don't have to pretend
I'm in control, cause I know it now
My confidence, I show it now

Even when it takes a hold of me
I've finally found my release

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to M.O.O.N.'s "Release" are reflective of a loss or tragedy and provide a message of hope for those left behind. The opening lines beg for the listeners to not argue amongst themselves due to the singer's absence, suggesting that their loss has led to conflict. However, the singer reassures them that they are still present in some way, despite having left their physical body.

The chorus encourages the listeners to actively seek connection with the singer, whether by reaching out to touch them, making an effort to speak with them, or calling out to hear them. The use of the Ullean pipe solo adds an emotional and spiritual element to the song, emphasizing the message of transcending the physical world to connect with those who have passed on.

@ST4RVY

This song starts playing when you still have two unfinished tasks and your teacher begins to collect the exams.

@malice5863

As someone who has two projects and the deadline is tomorrow, this is so true.

@V0YAG3R

It starts when your mom gives teh SUCC

@forestdude5168

nah this song plays when i lie to the teacher so i can go home.

@finalninju6021

The bosses in hlm were actually handled pretty well imo

@TheSalmoneer

They were fun, but were probably the least replayable aspect of the game. Once you beat biker or the father once, you’ll know how to do it, making any subsequent attempts pretty much effortless.

@ElHuevoFromCBC

@@TheSalmoneer It seems like everyone forgets about the police boss and the molotov encounter in HM1

@gorbonfree8245

@El Huevo Also the director

@jmeijer6995

@El Huevo molotov encounter is so cool when you're figuring it out. A few good tries and then you die within a second

@steven.259

@@gorbonfree8245 the director barely counts as a boss i think
most games that have special enemy introductions with a unique harder version of it dont really count as a boss and thats basically what the director was
