Alongside Attwenger he is considered as one of the most influential heads of the "Neue Volksmusik" (lit. "New Folklore Music") movement.
He became famous as Hubert von Goisern und die Alpinkatzen.
After this very successful setup split by the end of 1994,
HvG produced two world music CD with musicians from Tibet and Africa.
In 2000 he made his comeback with a new band and the album "foen".
The studio album "iwasig" was recorded after the tour and released 2002.
A personal project first, but due to the big success of the first "Trad" CD,
soon "Trad II" followed. Both feature original austrian folk songs.
The latest and biggest project is the "Linz Europe Tour 2007-2009".
Travelling on an adapted cargoship, fully equipped with a stage,
the journey went east first and then will head west.

The lyrics of Hubert Von Goisern's song "In's Birig" describe a hike up a mountain. The singer explains that despite the lack of wind and the beautiful weather, they still feel the urge to go up into the mountains, and are joined by a few others. As they make their way up the mountain path, they are careful not to be too loud so as not to startle any wildlife. Eventually, they reach the summit and take in the breathtaking view, admiring the stillness and peace that surrounds them.
Throughout the song, the singer also acknowledges the potential dangers and unexpected obstacles that can arise when hiking in the mountains. They make a point to climb carefully, avoiding strong winds and getting lost. The song also references the presence of wildlife, such as gamserln, a type of antelope that can be found in the Austrian Alps.
The lyrics of "In's Birig" ultimately convey a sense of wonder and appreciation for the natural beauty of the mountains, as well as a respect for the challenges and risks associated with hiking in such an environment.
