Rock Me Amadeus
Falco Lyrics

Rock me, rock me, rock me, rock me
Rock me, Amadeus
Do it, do it

Rock me all the time to the top

Er war ein Punker
Und er lebte in der großen Stadt
Es war in Wien, war Vienna
Wo er alles tat
Er hatte Schulden, denn er trank
Doch ihn liebten alle Frauen
Und jede rief
„Come and rock me Amadeus“

Er war Superstar
Er war populär
Er war so exaltiert
Because er hatte Flair
Er war ein Virtuose
War 'n Rockidol
Und alles rief
„Come and rock me Amadeus“

Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus, Amadeus, oh, oh, oh Amadeus
Come and rock me, Amadeus

Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus, Amadeus, oh, oh, oh Amadeus

Ey
Es war um 1780
Und es war in Wien
No plastic money anymore
Die Banken gegen ihn
Woher die Schulden kamen
War wohl jedermann bekannt
Er war ein Mann der Frauen
Frauen liebten seinen Punk

Er war Superstar
Er war so populär
Er war zu exaltiert
Genau das war sein Flair
Er war ein Virtuose
War 'n Rockidol
Und alles ruft noch heute
„Come and rock me Amadeus“

Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus, Amadeus, oh, oh, oh Amadeus
Come and rock me, Amadeus

Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus, Amadeus, oh, oh, oh Amadeus
Come and rock me, Amadeus

Now, come and rock me, Amadeus

Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus, Amadeus, oh, oh, oh Amadeus

Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus, Amadeus, oh, oh, oh Amadeus

Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus, Amadeus
Come on, rock me
Come and rock me to the top
Amadeus
Ama-, Ama-, Amadeus
Now come and, now come and rock me, Amadeus
Amadeus

Translation into english:

(Rock me Amadeus)
(Eh)
He was a punker
and he was living in the big city
it was in Vienna yeah Vienna
where he did everything
he had debts because he was drinking
but all the women loved him
and every woman shouted:
„Come on rock me Amadeus“

He was a superstar
he was popular
he was so exalted
because he had flair
he was a virtuoso
was a rock idol
and everyone shouted:
„Come on rock me Amadeus“

Refrain:
Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus,
Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus,
Amadeus, Amadeus, oh oh oh
Amadeus
Come on rock me Amadeus
Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus,
Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus,
Amandeus, Amadeus, oh oh oh
Amadeus
(Ehh)

It was around 1780
and it was in Vienna
no plastic money anymore
the banks against him
where the debts were coming from
was known by everybody
he was a womanizer
and women loved his punk

He was a superstar
he was popular
he was so exalted
because he had flair
he was a virtuoso
was a rock idol
and everyone shouted:
„Come on rock me Amadeus“

Refrain

“No plastic money anymore” is not idiomatic English. “No more plastic money” a better choice. “The plastic money has run out” would be even better. I understand that “no plastic money anymore” echoes the English line from the original German-language lyrics, but I do not understand your interpretive methodology.

That is the most egregious misstep, but others litter this work.

“Punker” is jargon—use “punk rocker” instead.
“Exalted” is a tonal mismatch—say “He was really big.”
“Where the debts were coming from was known by everybody“ is difficult to justify—prefer “Everybody knew why he was in debt.”

The whole translation is rife with problems and it is at least as bewildering as it is helpful.

Rock me all the time to the top

Where he did everything
He was in debt because he drank
But he was loved by all women
And every one of them was shouting
"Come and rock me Amadeus"
He was a superstar

He was so exalted
Because he had flair

And all cried
"Come and rock me Amadeus"

Come and rock me, Amadeus
Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus

It was around 1780.
And it was in Vienna
No plastic money anymore
The banks against him
Where the debts came from
Must have been everybody....

Eminem ???? Is that music??? For christ sake!!! And white guy pretending to BE a black guy???? Rage against system is punk music, not Rap.... Rap is for black racist, not for white guys, is wrong, is against nature. Punk yes, is anarquic, sex pistols for an example, dead kennedys ( Jesus was a terrorist, holiday in Cambodja) Thats anti system, not Rap....
