Broken Wings
Hubi Meisel Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Baby, don't understand
Why we can't just live long to each other's hands
This time might be the last, I fear
Unless I make it all too clear
I need you so, ohhhh...

Take these broken wings
And learn to fly again, learn to live free
When we hear the voices sing
The book of love will open up and let us in
Take these broken wings...

Baby, I think tonight
We can take what is wrong and make it right
Baby, it's all I know
That you're half of the flesh and blood that makes me whole
I need you so, ohhhh...

So take these broken wings
And learn to fly again, learn to live free
When we hear the voices sing
The book of love will open up and let us in
Yeah, let us in
Let us in!

Baby, it's all I know
That you're half of the flesh and blood that makes me whole
Yeah, yeah, yeah...
Yeah, yeah!

So take these broken wings
And learn to fly again, learn to live so free
When we hear the voices sing
The book of love will open up and let us in
Take these broken wings
You've got to learn to fly, learn to live and love so free
When we hear the voices sing
The book of love will open up for us and let us in

Yeah, yeah!
Ooooooh, yeah!

Overall Meaning

In Hubi Meisel's song, "Broken Wings," the lyrics express the singer's desperation for his partner to stay with him. He cannot understand why they cannot just hold each other's hands and live together. He fears that this may be their last moment together unless he makes it clear that he needs them. He begs them to be patient and take time to heal, to learn how to fly again, to be free and experience what love truly means.

The chorus of the song suggests that if they take the time to repair what has been broken, they will be able to open the "book of love" that will allow them to enter each other's lives again. The singer recognizes that his partner is a vital part of his life and without them, he feels incomplete. The song's emotional lyrics depict the desire and want of a love that has been broken, but still remains strong.

I like this ok but I totally LOVE Hubi's solo albums after this - his own special songs on EmOcean and Kailash. So I'm asking this again - does anyone reading this have any idea what happened to Hubi after 2007?????? Is he ok? The silence is deafening. :-(

But I keep listening to it, so i must say I like it!

Evan Angelos

Nice version but i believe that the vocals should have more power and not have less than the original.

MrDraickin

hahahahaha...nice, thank you, anyway !!

Crisp and clear sound, don't really like the rock version but can live with it, but that stressed singing put me off. Sorry.
