What's Fair
Humble Braggers Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Am I treating you like friend
I fear what will come if I get too close
And I'm right to do so, right to do so
So you are falling like a shining star
So you are falling down
What do I know, What do i know?
What do I know, What do I know?
What do I know, What do i know?
With solemn words to seldom hear
You craft a love I cannot veer
But on the streets you push away
And I can't escape, I can't escape
So you are falling like a shining star
So you are falling down
What do I know, What do I know?
What do I know, What do i know?
What do I know, What do I know?
What do I know, What do i know?
What do I know, What do I know?
What do I know, What do i know?
What do I know, What do I know?
What do I know, What do i know?
The lyrics to Humble Braggers' song "What's Fair" depict a sense of confusion and uncertainty in a relationship. The singer questions how they should behave, wondering if they're treating their partner as a friend. They express fear of getting too close, fearing what may come if they do. The repetition of the line "What do I know" emphasizes the singer's sense of confusion and lack of understanding in the situation.
The second verse introduces the idea of the partner pushing the singer away in public, which creates a conflicting internal struggle for the singer. They know they cannot veer from the crafted love, yet they cannot escape the feeling of being pushed away. The chorus repeats with the line "So you are falling like a shining star, so you are falling down," which may suggest the partner's eventual downfall, or perhaps the singer's perception of their partner's flawlessness.
Overall, "What's Fair" portrays a sense of internal struggle and confusion in a romantic relationship, as the singer grapples with their own unsure feelings and the actions of their partner.
