Whatever
Hundredth Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

It's like walking on a tight rope
Don't wanna come down
Just in case I can't cope
And sometimes it's like
Pulling a flower from the vine
And taking it home
Just to find you're all alone
It's been dead the whole time

So I just wanna run, run, run away
I just wanna feel something good today
I don't wanna think about anything
I just wanna be whatever I wanna be
(Be whatever I wanna be)
(Be whatever I wanna be)

It's like dosing in a circle
We're floating around
Tryna find something beautiful
Sometimes it's like rushing the trip
Just to find that I'm all alone at the top
And I wanna turn around
But there's not enough time

So I just wanna run, run, run away
I just wanna feel something good today
I don't wanna think about anything
I just wanna be whatever I wanna be

(I just wanna be whatever I wanna be)
(I just wanna run, run, run away)
(I just wanna feel something good today)
(I don't wanna think about anything)
(I just wanna be whatever I wanna be)
(I just wanna be whatever I wanna be)
(I just wanna be whatever I wanna be)

I just wanna run, run, run away
I just wanna feel something good today
I don't wanna think about anything
I just wanna be whatever I wanna be
I just wanna run, run, run away
I just wanna feel something good today

I don't wanna think about anything
I just wanna be whatever I wanna be

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Whatever" by Hundredth explores the themes of escapism and the desire to break free from the pressures and responsibilities of life. The song uses metaphors to convey these feelings, comparing life to walking on a tightrope or dosing in a circle. The tightrope represents the delicate balance between trying to hold it together and the fear of not being able to cope. On the other hand, dosing in a circle symbolizes the aimless pursuit of finding something beautiful or meaningful but ending up feeling isolated and alone.

The chorus expresses the longing to escape from reality and feel something positive in the present moment. The desire to run away and be whatever one wants to be reflects a yearning for freedom and the ability to live without constraints or worries. The repetition of the chorus emphasizes the strong desire for this escape and the need to find something good amidst the challenges of life.

As much I love metalcore I'm so glad to see a group of guys flex their artistic muscles and abandon the oversaturated metal scene entirely in favor of producing something that is as aesthetically pleasing to listen to as it was liberating to create.

Hmmm, Volumes did something similar, but you could tell it was them. Would it not benefit being under a different artist name if the sound is completely unrecognizable?

Dudes really went from “LET’S OPEN THIS MF UP” to “Hi, welcome to H&M”
