Too Much
Hunter Ian Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

All I ever wanted
Was to lose myself in you
All I ever needed
Was you to need me too

You're all I ever think about
I hunger for your touch
And all I ever wanted
Was you, is that too much?

I hate the pain of loving you
It happens all the time
I never needed anything or anybody
Until your eyes met mine

I'm waiting for your answer, babe
What's gonna become of us?
'cause all I ever wanted
Was you, is that too much?

It is too much to ask
That this man with a past
Could be happy at last
With a future like you

It is too much to ask
Is it too much of a task?
Am I going to fast for you?

Maybe you don't want me
I'm so scared of losing you
I never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity
Watch me screw up this one too

It's so hard to talk about love
I'm leaving now, oh, it's just

And all I ever wanted
Was you, is that too much?

The singer is completely enamored with their love interest, and they express that all they've ever wanted was to lose themselves in the other person. Despite the pain of loving this person, the singer still desires to be with them and is anxiously waiting for an answer on what will become of their relationship.

The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "is that too much?" revealing the singer's vulnerability and fear that their love might be too demanding or that they may not be enough for their love interest. This song is awesome. The production was in Norway. One of the greatest opening songs on any album.

One of the best albums ever written. Never released to the public in any substantial way. So great. The album was a tribute to to Mick Ronson's life. Listen from top to bottom. 23A SwanHill, Now ais the time, Resurrection Mary etc...GENIUS.

people that don't think so are shallow and buggers.
