Their 1993 offering Ever was marked by the return of original singer, Peter Nicholls, and was one of the first of the progressive revival of the '90s. He had previously quit the band in 1985 to be replaced by vocalist Paul (P.L.) Menel, but Nicholls' return was widely welcomed by IQ fans.
They have continued to tour and record but work on a new studio album had been delayed following the departure of keyboardist and founder member Martin Orford after 26 years in the band, however the new album Frequency was released in 2009 and marked a return to the early 80's IQ sound.
2. South Londoner IQ is a fresh-faced 16-year-old-who is putting together his own mix of bashment, grime and rap, mixing the melodic Auto-Tune flow of the likes of Popcaan with some UK grit. Having learnt his trade during a stint in Jamaica with his big brother, dancehall artist QQ, IQ has been delivering a fusion sound that’s unlike anyone else in the UK. His track ‘Tell A Paigon Try’ is a perfect example of the young MC’s talent, with hard skengman lyrics delivered in a melody that could have been one of Justin Bieber’s tropical cut.
Having dealt with some serious drama at a young age (IQ was close to Showkey and M.Dot, both murdered in gang-related beef in 2016), recent interviews have shown him to be an artist mature for his age and looking to focus on music. With plenty of unreleased tracks to drop over coming months, IQ is going to rise rapidly in 2017.
2. An AOR band from Stockholm, Sweden. They started out under the name IQ as a pure hard rock band, but changed their name to Guardian Angels.

I forget all the anger in me
Kiss a tear when the hammer falls
They're holding me here in never ending circles
I can still remember summer madness
I can taste the perfume on your cheek
The heat is overcome by coldness, how
Consoling words are insignificant
Say you'll pray
Justify the actions
These are days of the mob-rule, sharp tongue, curfew
When the mind is in solitary confinement
Makes the mood that breaks you
There's a spirit seeking liberation
Here's a fire with a hungry heart
If I listen maybe, time will tell me
The reasons why we're torn apart
As the years go by
Don't make any false promises
As the years go by
Say you'll pray
Here the silence is too loud
In a steel barred jail on the other side
We invented the differences
That weaved the web with which we lied
Caught in the middle of a cold war zone
I left my lover in a far-off place
She'll kiss a tear when the hammer's falling
And wipe the darkness from my face
As the years go by
Don't make any false promises
As the years go by
Just say you'll pray
The song "Promises" by IQ talks about the theme of loneliness and the impact it has on a person. The lyrics start off by stating how being with someone can make the singer forget all the anger in him. The lines, "Kiss a tear when the hammer falls, they're holding me here in never-ending circles," suggest that the person is trapped and unable to escape the feeling of despair. However, there is still hope as the singer can remember the happy times, "I can still remember summer madness, I can taste the perfume on your cheek."
The second verse is an expression of the current state of the world. The lines, "These are days of the mob-rule, sharp tongue, curfew, when the mind is in solitary confinement, makes the mood that breaks you," suggest a kind of turmoil that people are experiencing. The lines, "There's a spirit seeking liberation, here's a fire with a hungry heart," speak of the desire for change and hope.
The chorus, "As the years go by, don't make any false promises, as the years go by, say you'll pray," suggests that the person is aware of the fleeting nature of life and wants to hold on to something real. The lines, "Here the silence is too loud, in a steel-barred jail on the other side," describe a sense of isolation and captivity.
Overall, the song is a poignant and powerful expression of the human condition. It touches on themes of love, loneliness, despair, hope, and the search for meaning in life.
