I Muvrini was formed in the early 1980s by the brothers Jean-Francois Bernardini and Alain Bernardini who were born in the village of Tagliu-Isulacciu in the north of Corsica. They are named after a type of wild sheep which live in the mountains of Corsica.
The Bernardini brothers were introduced to traditional Corsican music at an early age by their father, Ghjuliu, who was a well known poet and singer. They recorded their first single with their father in collaboration with the group Canta u Populu Corsu. Ghjuliu Bernardini died in December 1977 and I Muvrini's first album, I Muvrini ... ti ringrazianu, which was released in 1979, was dedicated to their father's memory.
In 2000, I Muvrini joined up with Sting to record the their most famous song, "Terre d'Oru" (English: Fields of Gold).
Throughout their career they have promoted the Corsican language and culture.

O Terra Nostra
The song Terra by I Muvrini is a beautiful tribute to the island of Corsica, which is known for its stunning natural beauty, rich culture, and unique language. The lyrics are simple yet powerful, repeating the word Terra, which means land or earth in Corsican. The repetition creates a meditative quality that draws the listener into the beauty of the island and its people. As the song progresses, the emphasis shifts from Corsica as a physical place to Corsica as a symbol of identity and pride for its people. Terra becomes not just the land, but the spirit of Corsica and its people who are connected to it.
One interpretation of the song is that it is a celebration of the Corsican spirit of resilience, pride, and connection to the land. The repetition of Terra suggests a deep sense of belonging, and the song celebrates the strength, beauty, and unique qualities of the land and its people. The lyrics also express a sense of longing for Terra, as if the singer is separated from it and pining for the connection to the land and culture that it represents.
Overall, Terra is a song that speaks to the importance of connection to place and the power of a shared cultural identity. It is a beautiful tribute to Corsica and its people, and a powerful reminder of the importance of staying connected to our roots and the places that hold deep meaning for us.

Sans oublier Alain Bernardini , le deuxième frère qui chante dans i muvrini. D'ailleurs c'est son timbre de voix que je préfère.
