I Need Your Love
I Need Your Love - Calvin Harris Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I need your love
I need your time
When everything's wrong
You make it right
I feel so high
I come alive
I need to be free with you tonight
I need your love

I need your love

I take a deep breath every time I pass your door
I know you're there but I can't see you anymore
And that's the reason you're in the dark
I've been a stranger ever since we fell apart

And I feel so helpless here
Watch my eyes are filled with fear
Tell me, do you feel the same?
Hold me in your arms again

I need your love
I need your time
When everything's wrong
You make it right
I feel so high
I come alive
I need to be free with you tonight
I need your love

I need your love

Now I'm dreaming, will I ever find you now?
I walk in circles but I'll never figure out
What I mean to you, do I belong?
I try to fight this but I know I'm not that strong

And I feel so helpless here
Watch my eyes are filled with fear
Tell me do you feel the same
Hold me in your arms again

I need your love
I need your time
When everything's wrong
You make it right
I feel so high
I come alive
I need to be free with you tonight
I need your love

I need your love

All the years
All the times
You have never been to blame
And now my eyes are open
And now my heart is closing

And all the tears
All the lies
All the waste
I've been trying to make a change
And now my eyes are open

I need your love
I need your time
When everything's wrong
You make it right
I feel so high

I come alive
I need to be free

Overall Meaning

"I Need Your Love" is a song that speaks to the universal experience of longing for a love that has been lost. The lyrics describe the singer's feelings of desperation and fear as they struggle to come to terms with the end of a relationship. They speak of their need for the love and affection of their former partner, who they recognize as the one who can make everything right in their life. The song is characterized by a sense of urgency and longing, with the chorus repeating the phrase "I need your love" over and over again.

The lyrics of the song capture the conflicting emotions that arise when a relationship ends. The singer acknowledges their own shortcomings and mistakes, recognizing that the loss of the relationship was not entirely the fault of their partner. At the same time, they express their need for the love and validation of that same partner, suggesting that their sense of self-worth is deeply tied to the relationship. The song is both a bittersweet tribute to the power of love and a poignant reminder of the pain that can arise when that love is lost.

This song was a huge hit when I was 21. I’m 29 now. Enjoy your 20’s.

Let me give you some advice.

1. Don’t worry about finding the right person. When I quit looking and caring. We met.

2. Do NOT get into debt over stupid stuff. (Medical, Education, etc.) is the exception.
I’m talking about credit card debt. If you can’t afford it. You don’t need it. Save up for it.

3. Save your money

4. Don’t listen to people who will bring you down. I did that and I am in the same place for the past several years.

5. Don’t waste your early 20’s on drinking. It’s not worth it because you finally can.

6. Have fun and enjoy life. (YOLO) haven’t heard that in years and I cringed at that. It’s true though . Everyday is a new experience, so enjoy life one day at a time.

Most of this has been repeated several times to people, but it wouldn’t be repeated if it wasn’t true. I hope you have a wonderful decade!

@yerischerries3010

This song brings me back to easier times.
I remember I was 12 when I first heard this song. I was at summer camp, and I was waiting to be picked up by my mom.. there were songs playing in the background, and I was sick and tired of hearing them. They were overplayed on the radio, things like Best Day Of My Life. I was done hearing all these happy songs, because I had no way to consider myself happy.
Then, it played. This song played. Now don't get me wrong, I don't normally resonate with music, but this stood out to me, and it made me happy (from the lyrics, or at least what I could gather from them with my 12 year old brain) to know that people with so much talent are struggling. It made me feel like I wasn't alone (I was a pretty narcissistic kid, I thought I was too good for everyone else lol).
I don't know if any of you have ever had the feeling of something making you so truly happy, only to have it just taken away from you, but that's what happened to me. Of course, the song had to end, like every other song does. Over the years, I lost the song more and more. I couldn't find it, and I missed it. I wanted that feeling of nostalgia we all long for; the feeling that makes you happy.
It's taken 6 years, but I found it again. I really do miss those times, but like everything that's good, of course there's a downside to it as well. I was a kid who couldn't understand social tendencies. I was a kid who never joined in on anything. It was tough, but I miss it.

Note that while I said they were easier times, they weren't better times. I found my way out of whatever was going on at that point, and now I'm doing well for myself, I'd say. I just want anyone who sees this to know; if you're struggling with anything, there's help, and it really does get better. It may take you a lot less time than I did. It may take you a month for you to find someone you really love that can help you to treat this, but it might also take you as long as I did to find any solution.
All that matters is that people are here for you, and, well, I'm here, even if I have no idea who you are. I want you all to know that I don't care what type of person you are, or what's in your past. I care that you get better, and I support anything you may need to use to help you get there, whether it be medicine or your own willpower.

There is help.
Much love, Brendan <3
