DOA
I Prevail Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

On our knees we pray
As we waste away
And we dig our grave
Dead on arrival

I can't breathe
Got my head on the guillotine
Slipknot around my neck, come and take a seat
Watch 'em bury me down 'til I'm six feet deep
In the underground
Dead is the land of the free
Don't give, just take every time you need
Don't give, just take though it's killing me
Don't give, just take every time you need
Don't give, just take

On our knees we pray
As we waste away
And we dig our grave
Dead on arrival
In this mess we made
Fill our lungs with hate
Just to numb the pain
Dead on arrival

Dead on arrival
Dead on arrival

I can't breathe
I keep treadin' the water
Am I not worth saving?
But we're all goin' under
Am I not worth saving?
Don't give, just take every time you need
Don't give, just take though it's killing me
Don't give, just take every time you need
Don't give, just take

On our knees we pray
As we waste away
And we dig our grave
Dead on arrival
In this mess we made
Fill our lungs with hate
Just to numb the pain
Dead on arrival

Dead on arrival
Dead on arrival

I can't breathe

Am I not worth saving?
Am I not worth saving?

On our knees we pray
As we waste away
And we dig our grave
Dead on arrival
In this mess we made
Fill our lungs with hate
Just to numb the pain
Dead on arrival

Yeah
Dead on arrival
Dead on arrival

Dead, dead, dead, dead
Dead, dead, dead, dead

Overall Meaning

The song DOA by I Prevail is a poignant reflection on the state of modern society where people are slowly losing their hope, dignity, and worth. It starts with the singer talking about how he and everyone else is reduced to praying on their knees as they waste away and dig their graves "dead on arrival." This could be interpreted as a metaphor for how people are losing hope and dying inside as they struggle with the hardships of life, like financial instability, mental health, and the general disarray of the world in general. The singer then goes on to talk about how he can't breathe, with the head on the guillotine and a slipknot around his neck, symbolizing how people are trapped in their struggles, with no escape in sight. He wonders if he is worth saving, and though he is treading water, he fears it might not be enough.

The chorus repeats the phrase "On our knees we pray as we waste away, and we dig our grave, dead on arrival" as a reminder of how people are struggling to survive in a world that is slowly crushing them. The next verse emphasizes the theme of the song, pointing out that the land of the free is dead, and that people only take without giving, eventually leading to their destruction.

Overall, DOA by I Prevail is a powerful commentary on the modern world, highlighting the struggles people face and the seemingly hopeless situation they find themselves in.

It's ironic going overseas to fight when Amerika's biggest enemies have always been domestic

Without the Confederates there would be no Nazis. Both groups descendants of the Medieval Christian Crusaders which killed Millions

9/11 is just a penny in a giant bucket of bloodshed. Mass shootings in the US have killed more.

I wish I can go back in time to Industrialize and Secularize the Bronze Age. Amerika wouldn't exist but that is a small price to ending Slavery and Religion back Five-Thousand Years Ago

@DivadtheGamer

I've never been asked why I Prevail is my favorite band, but to save anyone the burden of doing so:

I Prevail is my favorite band, of all time to come, because I connect with them. Their music has been a light in my times of darkness, they've been a fuel to my furnace, when I needed to let out anger properly.

How do I feel connected? The themes I hear in their music, about certain mental issues, aggression from love in their song "Love Lust and Liars". These guys truly understand what half the world feels. And although humanity itself will never coexist to fix that, I Prevail does their best to not only help, but to entertain and speak out for others, through their music.

No other band in this God created universe will ever connect into my heart and soul, better than I Prevail has. To see how far they've come, is no different than seeing family grow up. These young talented men are beyond deserving of the top charts.

I'll see you men in Cincinnati in November.
