In The End
Ida Maria Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Twenty-two summers
And I hope you'll have a hundred more
Colors of this room will always follow

I hope we meet in the end
With wrinkles like the divas
And we'll dance again and again
In the end
In the end
Oh oh oh

Days and months and years

And cities people love and fear
May god wherever she's out drinking always be

Overall Meaning

watching over us

The lyrics of Ida Maria's song In The End speak of hope and longing for a long-lasting friendship or even relationship. The first and second paragraph alludes to the passing of time, which is inevitable for all human relationships. The first sentence, "Twenty-two summers, and I hope you'll have a hundred more," reflects the wish for the other person to have more fruitful years filled with life experiences. The line "Colors of this room will always follow" suggests that memories of good times spent together will stay with them forever, and they will carry those moments always.

Beautiful song. Love the sentiments the song evokes. This is the kind of song I can listen to over and over again and each time hear just that little bit more from it.
