Nazi Girlfriend
Iggy Pop Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I want to fuck her on the floor
Among my books of ancient lore
So I will make a full report
I got a Nazi Girlfriend

It's not the four-inch heels she wears
It's not her baby-fine blond hair
It's more the desert in her stare
I've got a Nazi Girlfriend

She's not the colt
That she once was
She's elegant
But youth is lost
Still she has ways to make me talk
I love you Nazi Girl

Her French is perfect
So's her butt
She wears two crosses
Tangled up
She's independent
She's not dumb
Tough little Nazi Girl

So now I've fucked her on the floor
Among my books of ancient lore

And I have made a full report
About a Nazi Girl

Overall Meaning

The song "Nazi Girlfriend" by Iggy Pop is a controversial one as it sheds light on the fascination with the Nazi regime and the ideologies surrounding it. In the first few lines of the song, the lyrics describe the singer's desire to have sex with his Nazi girlfriend on the floor while surrounded by his books of ancient lore. This was likely an allusion to the idea that Nazi ideology was rooted in ancient, mythic concepts. The singer seems to find the idea of having a Nazi girlfriend arousing, as he declares that he got a Nazi girlfriend.

The next few lines of the song discuss the singer's admiration for his girlfriend's physical characteristics, particularly her blonde hair and piercing stare. The lyrics suggest that the singer is aware of the troubling nature of his attraction to a woman with such extreme political views, but is unable to resist the allure of such an unconventional partner. He describes his lover as tough, elegant, and independent, making her a fascinating object of study, and an object of affection.

Ultimately, the lyrics serve to showcase how some individuals, even those who may not embrace or embody extremist ideologies, are fascinated by the symbolism and spectacle of it, which can be both alluring and dangerous.

Here are corrections to incorrect lyrics - outrageously, stupidly incorrect: The first line is, "ILL WIND off the river". (And that's ill, not I'll.) The second line is, "smoke stacks fade to BLACK". Second verse: "I've made my bed but I can't REST my head". And "so much COULD be misunderstood". Bridge: "WELL maybe it's just my life". An artist crafts his work meticulously , then this is what happens to it. Disgusting.
