Formed by Claes Strängberg and his brother Per in 2004, Immanu El was joined by Michael Persson and Emil Karlsson soonafter where they began to work on their first release.
The band name, Immanu El, is a play on words (of sorts) on the Hebrew Bible's prophecy of Immanuel, the prophesied Messiah, and the Semetic word for God, El (deity), and "with us" (Immanu). The band's name takes on even deeper meaning in light of the Judeo-Christian philosophies of Jesus being simultaneously the Jewish Messiah and God in one.
After touring, supporting such bands as Logh and Loney, Dear they got the chance in 2005 to play a set on the 'Rookie Stage' in the Hultsfred Festival; an opportunity for unsigned bands to perform at a major event.
They released their first EP titled Killerwhale, before being signed to And the Sound Records in 2006. The following year, Immanu El recorded and released their first full-length album They'll Come, They Come. Building on the success of their first album they released their second album Moen in 2009, followed by In Passage in 2011.

Immanu El Lyrics

Your golden mane
Lion of Juda
Carries me
Carries me home
When I hear you
When I touch you
From far I see
From far [x2]
The lyrics of Immanu El's song Home describe the comfort and security that the singer finds in their relationship with someone they hold dear. The opening lines, "Holding on to you, your golden mane" paint a vivid image of someone holding onto another, with their hair resembling that of a lion's golden mane. The following line, "Lion of Juda carries me" adds to the imagery of the lion as a symbol of strength and protection. The singer finds that being with this person brings them a sense of home.
The second verse of the song focuses on the physical and emotional sensations the singer experiences when they are with their loved one. "When I hear you, when I touch you, I feel safe" illustrates the calming presence of the person they're with, indicating that they're at peace in their presence. The final two lines of the song, "From far I see, From far" creates a sense of distance that the singer feels from their loved one, which could be interpreted in a few ways, such as a metaphor for emotional barriers or physical distance.
Overall, Home is a beautifully written song that expresses the deep emotional connection that can be found in relationships. The lion imagery and the line about feeling safe create a sense of protection and comfort, which is what many people seek when it comes to relationships.
