Let the Wind Blow
Imperials Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

There's a storm on the horizon,
Oh, let the wind blow,
There is thunder in the heavens,
Oh, let the wind blow,
Let the rain fall down from the sky above,
Let the tempest roar 'til it's had enough,
I'm trusting in the Lord of love,
Let the wind blow.

There is lightning in the distance,
Oh, let the wind blow,
There is darkness all around me,
Oh, let the wind blow,
Let the world give all the hurt it can,
Let the evil one devise his plans,
I'm trusting in the great I am,
Let the wind blow.

Let the wind blow... Blow as hard as it can,
Let the wind blow,
Upon the solid rock of God I stand,
Oh, let the wind blow.

There's a storm on the horizon,
Oh, let the wind blow,
There is thunder in the heavens,
Oh, let the wind blow,
Let it's mighty fury be unleashed,
Let the doubters fall upon their knees,
I'm trusting in the prince of peace,
Let the wind blow.

Let the wind blow... Blow as hard as it can,
Let the wind blow,
Upon the solid rock of God I stand,
Oh, let the wind blow.

Let it's mighty fury be unleashed,
Let the doubters fall upon their knees,
I'm trusting in the prince of peace,
Let the wind blow.

Let the wind blow... Blow as hard as it can,
Let the wind blow,
Upon the solid rock of God I stand,
Let the wind blow, the wind blow.

Let the rain fall down from the sky above,
Let the tempest roar 'til it's had enough, (let the wind blow)
Let the world give all the hurt it can,
Let the evil one devise his plans, (let the wind blow)
Let the rain fall down from the sky above,
Let the tempest roar 'til it's had enough,

I'm trusting in the Lord of love,
Let the wind blow

These simple lyrics have stayed with me for 35 years. Powerful.

This is probably my favorite Imperials song. The mentality being described - bring it on, devil, use every trick you've got, I'm going to stand firm and God is going to take care of me - is one I sometimes struggle to maintain. It's great to go back to a song like this to get rejuvinated. Thanks so much for posting.

@Tom l know what you mean. The more l stand up and proclaim my faith the more Satan attacks and sometimes it feels too scary!

I agree totally

The snake is toothless. No more eating for it. It was done at the cross. Yay that we walk through the valley of the shadow of death we will fear no evil Jedi talk in the name of the Lord.

I'm not sure about the "bring it on devil". Truthfully, I want the devil to stay away from me. But I'm with you on everything else! God Bless you!

I used love this song so much in the 80s and early 90s. It was always part of the rotation in my household. God is good!
