The band maintained a comfortable line-up during 2009 which had them head to the studio to record their debut EP, This Is Retaliation, that brought forth a whole new attention to the band. After almost a year of promoting the EP, In Dying Arms then were signed to Matchless Records, which is owned and operated by former Chelsea Grin guitarist, Chris Kilbourne. The band then began work on their debut full-length album, Deprevation, which was released in 2010 through the label. They then recorded and released their self-titled follow-up LP the following year. By the release of that record, the band reached their contract requirements for Matchless and our now free agents. By 2012 the band released a promotional single for a song titled "The Core of My Existence".
As of 2012, things haven't looked up better for In Dying Arms. They were signed to Artery Recordings and released their third full-length album Boundaries on September 25, 2012.
Horizons
In Dying Arms Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I've grown defenseless to your bittersweet lies
My eyes have opened
Now it's my time to shine
Why do I follow the sun?
Where will I be when there's nowhere to run?
Where will I be when there's nowhere to hide?
You
You were my sun
Now you're just a fucking waste of fucking time
These eyes they see the world
The stars they see the sun
Nothing can stop me this time
I've already made up my mind
You
You were my sun
You
You were my sun
This heart
Sometimes it's hard to move on
Move on
He see's himself in a whole new way
This is the start of judgement day
He see's himself in a whole new way
This is the start of judgement day
The lyrics of In Dying Arms's song Horizons seem to be about a person who has come to terms with the lies they were told and has grown defenseless to them. They question why they used to follow the person who told them lies, as they now see the world in a whole new way. The person seems to have finally opened their eyes and realized that it's their time to shine. However, the person seems to be questioning where they will be when there's nowhere to run or hide. They realize that the person they used to follow, who was once their sun, is no longer worth their time. They seem to be questioning why they ever followed that person in the first place.
The lyrics of the song seem to be about a person who has been hurt by someone close to them. The person is now standing up for themselves and embracing their newfound strength to move on. They acknowledge that it's sometimes hard to move on, but they have made up their mind that they will not continue to live in the shadow of the person who has hurt them.
