During the band's early years, In Flames had a varying group of musicians recording with them, including many session musicians. By the release of Colony (1999), the group had established a stable lineup. Their sixth studio album Reroute to Remain (2002) showed the band moving toward a newer style of music that moved further away from melodic death metal and closer to alternative metal. This decision was criticized by fans of the group's heavier metal sound; however, it increased the band's mainstream audience and bolstered their album sales. As of 2008, In Flames has sold over two million records worldwide.
Since the band's inception, In Flames have released thirteen studio albums, three EPs, and two live DVDs, their latest release being their thirteenth studio album I, the Mask in 2019. In Flames has been nominated for three Grammis Awards. They won two of these nominations; one for Soundtrack to Your Escape (2004) in the "Hard Rock/Metal of the Year" category, and one nomination for their following album Come Clarity (2006) in the same category.
Move Through Me
In Flames Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
That brings you down
A fading liar who wakes up alone
It's there in front of you
Invert this tragedy to come
And reclaim your future
One quest at a time
Feed the hunger
Climb on up
Repress the negative
You are not alone
It's there in front of you
Invert this tragedy to come
And reclaim your future
This is a call to arms
One quest at a time
Avoid the mould
Desperate you regress
Move through me
I'll be your triumph
Invert this tragedy to come
And reclaim your future
This is a call to arms
One quest at a time
The lyrics of In Flames's song Move Through Me seem to be an encouraging message to the listeners. The first few lines, "Consume the curse that brings you down, a fading liar who wakes up alone," speaks of the negativity and self-doubt that a person may carry within themselves. The lyrics encourage the listener to overcome this negativity, "feed the hunger, climb on up, repress the negative, you are not alone." It's a message that tells the listener that they have the power to invert this tragedy to come and reclaim their future, as this is a call to arms, one quest at a time.
The chorus, "Invert this tragedy to come and reclaim your future, this is a call to arms, one quest at a time," supports the idea of the song, that we have the power to change our fate and live a better life. The line "avoid the mould, desperate you regress," speaks of how sometimes we tend to fall back into our old, negative patterns, but the following line, "move through me, I'll be your triumph," serves as a reminder that we have people in our lives who can help us overcome any obstacle.
Overall, the lyrics of Move Through Me are a message of hope, strength, and motivation to overcome any negativity that pulls us down and make positive changes in our life, one step at a time.
