Chaos
Inc. Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Eu to no chão
Mas o coturno não acerta minha boca
Eu to no chão

A caça é implacável
Tem cor, classe social
Mas nós não vamos morrer

Eu to no chão
Mas o coturno não acerta minha boca
Eu to no chão
Meu sangue suja essa farda imunda

Foi um dia de merda no trampo
Puta que pariu só voltava pra casa

Eu não reagi, tudo escureceu
Foi sem geral, o estado me escolheu

Overall Meaning

The first verse of Inc.'s song Chaos describes a physically violent encounter with law enforcement in which the singer is on the ground, but is grateful that they were not hit in the mouth by a soldier's boot. The second line reveals that the singer's blood is spilling out onto their uniform after this altercation. The following verse suggests that this incident occurred as a result of the singer's being targeted by the police due to their racial and economic status, and that they were unable to receive a fair trial. The chorus repeats the idea that the singer is on the ground, but not defeated, because they have not been silenced by those in power.

The final verse of Chaos is a commentary on the violence and discrimination that black youth in Brazil face on a daily basis. The statistics provided in this verse are shocking; every 23 minutes, a young black person is killed by the state's police force. Despite this terrifying reality, the singer suggests that they will not back down, and that their community will not give up in the face of this oppression. The final repetition of the chorus reinforces this idea of resilience in the face of violence.
