Inception
Inception Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Awaken...
Mortality lost in distant chaos
Time immeasurable...
Time falling through The ABYSS
Emitting powers unknown to man

Centuries pass like minutes, and still I'm lost
Forever trapped, falling...
Through the ABYSS...
Eons gone, but changed I am not
To understand is a gift beyond grasp...

A memory...
Vision of the light
Which has passed...
As I fell...
Falling into The ABYSS...

I remember when I died, the sickness...
Humanities downfall, the disease...

But that's long gone now, a shadow of the past
Constant, recurring, vision of the light...

Now I must find that which has eluded me...
Traveling for centuries, enveloped by blackness...

In frustration, close my eyes...
Discover a realm in my mind, I can see...

Picture of the outside, humanity has survived...
An army of mortals, gathered before a child...
A dictator of adolescence, sound now apparent...
A chant hath risen, beckoning me to the other dimension...
RISE!!!

Body Changed, deceased transformation...
Unknown senses begin to work, speak with the dead...
Necroscope...
Fear of me, present in their voices...
Discovering I am more than a god, a ruler of blackness...
Home is The ABYSS, falling from the sky...
Havoc upon the earth, dead join the living...
To accept the wings of darkness...
"Eternal life, I grant to thee -
Being who has summoned me...

To fulfill the prophecy-
To control humanity..."

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to the song "Inception" by the band Inception describe a journey through time and space, and a quest for understanding and power. The singer of the song appears to be someone who has lost their mortal body and is now trapped in a kind of void or abyss, where time has lost its meaning. In this state, they begin to emit "powers unknown to man," suggesting that they have transformed into something more than human.

As the centuries pass, the singer remains lost and falls further into the abyss, unchanged by the passage of time. They are haunted by memories of their former life, including a sickness that wiped out humanity. However, the singer is also driven by a sense of purpose, and feels compelled to search for something that has eluded them.

Finally, after traveling for centuries, the singer discovers a realm in their mind where they can see a vision of humanity's future. They witness an army of mortals gathered before a child, who seems to be a dictator of sorts. The child leads a chant that beckons the singer to join them in another dimension, where they can rule over humanity and grant eternal life to those who summon them.

Overall, the lyrics to "Inception" are a metaphor for the desire for power and the search for meaning in life, even in the face of mortality and an uncertain future.

"I feel you bro, like trapped in the dream forever and struggle to get out."

The more you struggle to get out you the more you are likely to fail! The secret is to relax into state that you want achieve. You must replace one state by another and you do this by deliberately creating a mental vacuum which the subconscious hates and then tricking your mind into the new state.

The film 'The Shawshank Redemption' (TSR) shows you how to get out but this can take weeks, months and even years.

Further, there may be may people who are associated with you who may not want you to leave. Like Andy in TSR, discuss this with NOBODY!

One of the biggest mysteries on planet Earth is how Christopher Nolan hasn't won an oscar yet!

@Cartman4wesome

Really? I think he's suffering from a rare disease called The Leonardo DiCaprio Syndrome.

@Razzanonymous

Cartman C you know what, he transcends the level of Oscar, he doesn't need one to prove that he is one of the best to ever direct a motion picture, just like Leo didn't need one to prove he was a great actor. I'm just hoping Dunkirk will be his big break!

@mistermiyagi6073

what does an oscar even mean? and why does it matter? I'm sure Nolan doesn't give 2 shits about an oscar. He started making movies because he loves it, not because he wanted to win a meaningless oscar

@sparda9060

Only War movies win Oscars and I think Dunkirk will win him one finally.
