2. The story of the Norwegian dance/pop act Infinity started when Birgitte Moe (24 years old in 2000) was going to audition for an other Norwegian dance act Devotion. Then she heard that Kjell Gabriel Henriksen needed a singer for his band, after a lot of hard work she finally convinced him to let her try singing. The band was at the time named Barbie-Q and consisted of three rappers and a vocalist. When Birgitte joined the group they changed their name into Infinity.
Their first album Www.Happy-Poeple.net was somewhat quite succesful. It went straight to #1 just after release selling more than 30.000 copies in Norway. The following album was planned to be www.Sporty-People.net, the corresponding website had even been created! But for some reasons, it had never been released (apart from one single called Boys And Girls or 1-2-3-4). Infinity Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
before they settled, arriving to the sea
And the winds that haunt the winter of the frozen, deep forest
Stops its course towards the burning fire
Leaving our feelings to rest
Shivering with splendor before the future
Reflections on the top of life in a dark but hopeful sky
Where in the nights silence our souls will meet and soften
the endless tears
A tear and a smile
seducing a man
Her sacrifice is made of
neverending tears
Still trapped in pale desires
that touch the root of the heart
Sparkles rise in the air
diluting the heat of the flame
The lyrics of "Tears" by Infinity seem to be about the power and impact of tears in our lives. The first stanza suggests that these tears invade the world and arrive at the sea, which could be interpreted as a metaphor for the vastness of our emotional landscape. The second stanza presents the winds that haunt the winter of a deep, frozen forest, but these winds stop as they reach the burning fire, leaving our feelings to rest. This again seems to suggest the calming or healing power of tears.
The third stanza hints at a hope for the future, with the singer shivering with splendor before it. They urge someone to tell her that the whispers of the sea can provide words worth living for. The last two lines of the stanza seem to suggest that in the quiet of the night, our souls can meet and soothe the endless tears. Finally, the last stanza presents a tear and a smile seducing a man, with the sacrifice of the woman made of neverending tears. Despite the trapped, pale desires, the occasional sparkles that rise in the air can dilute the heat of the flame, providing some hope.
Overall, the lyrics of this song seem to suggest that tears can have a powerful impact on our emotions and that they can have a healing or soothing effect as well. Additionally, the lyrics seem to suggest that even when we feel trapped or stuck in our emotions, there is hope for a brighter future ahead.
