Lord of the Flame
Inkubus Sukkubus Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

He is coming through dust, sea and sand
And he is coming from the Ancient Lands
Angel of Light, and Lord of the Sacred Flame
A liberator to free you from your shame

Ride out and set the slaves all free
Fill our souls with your love and with your ecstasy
He is Osiris, and he is also Pan
And he is god, but he is also man
He has come from Heaven and of Earth
A god of lust, of music and of mirth

Ride out and set the slaves all free
Fill our souls with your love and with your ecstasy
Break the chains of the last two thousand years
Save us from pain, save us from fear

Oh great Horned God, we have not forgotten you
Oh great Horned God, we have not forsaken you

Oh great Horned God, we have not denied you
Oh great Horned God, we have not defied you

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Inkubus Sukkubus's song, Lord of the Flame, exalt the coming of a powerful, divine figure that is both a liberator and a god of lust, music, and mirth. The song alludes to Osiris, the Egyptian god of the afterlife, and Pan, the Greek god of nature, who are often associated with fertility, procreation, and wild joy. The Lord of the Sacred Flame, as described in the lyrics, is a unifying force that transcends earthly and spiritual boundaries, heralding a new era of freedom and pleasure.

The verses of the song invoke a sense of anticipation and awe, as if the Lord of the Flame is an ancient being that has been awaited for millennia. The use of natural elements such as dust, sea, and sand, along with the references to Heaven and Earth, suggest that this deity is not bound by any particular domain or culture, but rather encompasses all of existence. The lyrics call for the Lord of the Flame to "set the slaves all free" and "break the chains of the last two thousand years," implying that the arrival of this divine figure will bring an end to oppression, ignorance, and suffering.

The chorus of the song is a repetitive incantation that evokes a sense of rapture and release. The Lord of the Flame is asked to "fill our souls with your love and with your ecstasy," suggesting that his power is not only liberating, but also transformative and ecstatic. The final lines of the song affirm the devotion and loyalty of the singer to the "Great Horned God," who is likely a reference to Pan or another nature deity, and who embodies the wild, untamed spirit of nature.

@Chiyo1967 Ive performed a ritual before where you actually visit him, or at least a vision of how you see him, and he helps you, he gives advice. Of course the advice is hidden within different symbols, but it really is useful advice once you've figured it out. And its amazing to see the Lord, (or how u see him to be, not sure which), but it really leaves a wonderful feeling in your heart.
