Love Me or Hate Me

You gotta take it with a pinch of salt
Nothing's pleasing
You always want that little bit more
What is certain
You never gonna make me feel small
Not in this life, not in my mind, not ever again
No matter what you say to me
Love me or hate me
That's what you're gettin'
So come on get ready
ohh
(Chorus)
I don't care you don't know me
Enough to talk about me
You can say all you want to
Love me or hate me
I don't care and I'm aware
I live my life so beautiful
Is that good enough for you?
Try to teach me
Try to turn me into someone new
And it gets to me
Out of my way I'm coming through
(Bridge x1)
(Chorus x1)
I'm sorry
I don't fit in
You' re so concerned about perfection
That's not me, that's not me
(Chorus x1)
I don't care
I don't mind
I don't care
I'm aware
I don't mind
I don't fear
Ohh ohh ohh
The lyrics of Ira Losco's song, "Love Me or Hate Me" speak about the singer’s resilience against criticism and judgment from others. The opening lines imply that life can be challenging, but we have to accept it with a “pinch of salt” – meaning that we have to take life's challenges lightly. The lines "Nothing's pleasing, you always want that little bit more" reflects how people are never satisfied with what they have and always crave for more. However, the singer is firm that no one can make her feel inferior or small and she won't let anyone bring her down.
The bridge conveys that the singer is indifferent to others’ opinions of her. She affirms that people can either love or hate her, but that's who she is, and there's no changing that. It’s a direct message to those who try to put her down; she won’t be affected by their words.
In the chorus, she sings about how people talk about her without even knowing her personally, but it doesn’t bother her. She’s living the best life she can and doesn't care about what anyone thinks. The lines, "Try to teach me, try to turn me into someone new," show that some people try to change the person she is, but she’s not going to change for anyone. The closing lines, "You’re so concerned about perfection, that's not me," indicate that people want her to fit into their ideal mold of perfection, but she won't let others' perception sway who she is.
