So Many Words...
From their first performance in June 2003 until the recording of their first album, Irish Stew had been looking for their own style. A few people and a few different instruments passed through the band untill the winning combination at that time was found. Finally, the band's members were Bojan Petrovic (vocals, tin whistle), Nenad Gavrilov (guitar), Ana Mrkobrada (violin), Ivan Djuric (banjo), Aleksandar Gospodinov (bass guitar) and Pavle Medan (drums). Irish Stew changed its members because they were on a search for their musical selves. At first, the band played covers of famous Irish folk songs, as well as The Pogues' covers, but soon after that the creativity and inspiration for making their own music arouse. This period gave birth to the hit songs such as Why, Puzzle of Life, Stout, McGee's Daughter, that, together with 8 other songs, found their place on Irish Stew's debut album So Many Words (2005). The making of the album was a big step forward for the band, in other words, going up onto the next level. Many awards received at numerous demo festivals created great expectations from the band and the album, which were justified and even overcome by the whole edition of the album having been sold out rather quickly - in terms of Serbian marketplace.
Dare To Dream
Making of the second album has put the standards even higher, having in mind the success of the first album that needed to be justified. During this period, Irish Stew left their authentic signature on the music scene in Serbia. Compared to the first album, the band allowed themselves to experiment with other musical genres, but they still kept the beloved Irish influence and true emotion as their creativity’s essence. The lining of the band didn’t change much. There were Bojan Petrovic (vocals, tin whistle), Nenad Gavrilov (guitar), Ana Mrkobrada (violin), Ivan Djuric (banjo), Aleksandar Gospodinov (bass guitar) and Marko Krasnic (drums). Album Dare To Dream was released on 2008 and it featured the song Ditch which was, according to many, the best thing brewed by the band until then.
At the moment, Irish Stew spend most of their time in the studio working on their third album whose release is expected in autumn of 2011. New ideas and inexhaustible inspiration!
Home Is Where Your Heart Is
Irish Stew of Sindidun Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Remember all my promises that I will be beside the Holy Ghost
But all the things you did are way to heavy for my back
And all the things we missed burn in flames
So if I leave, let it go, will I settle down my soul
Or find just another way to you?
I say yes, I say no, should I leave or should I fall?
At the edge of the rage every love seems to fade
But, I'm afraid this love still grows
I'm afraid this love still grows...
The lyrics to Irish Stew of Sindidun's song Home Is Where Your Heart Is speak of a painful dilemma between leaving and staying in a relationship that has become burdened with heavy mistakes and missed opportunities. The singer remembers the promises made to their partner, but feels the weight of the things that have gone wrong. The line "an angel came to earth to love you most" captures the intensity of the love that was once shared, but the singer recognizes that they might not be able to carry the burden of the past mistakes any longer. The mention of the Holy Ghost adds a spiritual element to the song, perhaps pointing towards a desire for forgiveness and redemption.
The chorus of the song shows the internal conflict of the singer, who doesn't know whether to leave or stay, wondering if either decision will settle their soul. The use of the metaphor of rocks on the road suggests that the journey of love is not always smooth, but full of obstacles that can either be overcome or lead to a fall. The line "every love seems to fade" points towards a sense of hopelessness, yet the singer admits that their love still grows, despite the difficulties.
