Weekend Warrior

Who are you kidding being that cool?
Trying to break away from running with the pack
But they ain't listening so you've gotta go back
You're a weekend warrior when
You're one of the crowd
Just look at you now
Look at you now
Just look at you now
Just look at you now
You're not so brave the way you behave
It makes you sick, gotta get out quick
It's all bravado when you're out with your mates
It's like a different person goes through those gates
And the game begins
The adrenalin's high
Feel the tension
Maybe someone will die
Someone will die
Someone will die
Maybe someone will die
A weekend warrior lately
A weekend warrior sometimes
A weekend warrior maybe
You ain't that way anymore
A weekend warrior lately
A weekend warrior sometimes
A weekend warrior maybe
You ain't that way anymore
You've gotta get out gotta get away
But you're in with a clique it's not easy to stray
You've gotta admit you're just living a lie
It didn't take long to work out why
It's hard to say why you got involved
Just wanting to be part
Just wanting to belong
To belong
To belong
To belong
A weekend warrior lately
A weekend warrior sometimes
A weekend warrior maybe you ain't that way anymore
A weekend warrior lately
A weekend warrior sometimes
A weekend warrior maybe you ain't that way anymore
Some of the things that you've done
You feel so ashamed
After all it's only a game Isn't it?
And after all the adrenalin's gone
What you gonna do on Monday?
What you gonna do?
What you gonna do on Monday?
A weekend warrior lately
A weekend warrior sometimes
A weekend warrior maybe you ain't that way anymore
A weekend warrior lately
A weekend warrior sometimes
A weekend warrior maybe
You were never like that at all
"Iron Maiden's Weekend Warrior" is a song about peer pressure and the dangers of conforming to a crowd that engages in risky and irresponsible behavior. It portrays the singer as someone who is trying to break free from this group's influence, but is struggling to do so. The lyrics suggest that the singer and his friends are not acting naturally, but are instead putting on a show of bravado and recklessness to impress each other. The song also suggests that the singer is aware of the danger of this kind of behavior, but is still drawn back to it because of social pressure and a desire to belong.
The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "Weekend Warrior" over and over again, which suggests that the singer is not just engaging in this behavior occasionally, but has become part of a group that consistently acts this way on weekends. The line "maybe someone will die" is particularly striking, as it suggests the very real possibility of death or serious injury resulting from the group's behavior. The lyrics also suggest that the singer may be feeling remorse and shame for his actions when the weekend is over and the adrenalin has dissipated.
The song warns against the dangers of peer pressure and the risks of conforming to a group that engages in risky and reckless behavior. It encourages listeners to think for themselves and to resist the pressure to conform to a crowd. Ultimately, it suggests that true bravery and strength come from the ability to resist the influence of others and to stand up for one's own beliefs and values.
