Isadar's involvement with his high school's musical rekindled his interest in the piano and triggered improvisational skills which segued into songwriting.
A graduate of the University of Louisiana, Isadar began to professionally record his compositions while a student. These early recordings evolved into his 1997 vocal release, "Dream of the Dead," (watch music video here) and were influenced by British recording artists - Kate Bush (in particular, her masterpiece, "The Dreaming"), Thomas Dolby, Peter Gabriel, and US/NYC based performance artist Laurie Anderson. Inspired from attending a performance by pianist Liz Story, Isadar briefly changed his focus to solo piano and recorded his 1990 debut, "Near the Edge of Light." In the early 90's, Isadar concentrated on writing pop music to finance his more artistic work.
Isadar relocated to New York City in 1993 to further pursue his music and recording. His first break came within a year when an advertising firm in New York hired him to create the soundtrack for a Ralph Lauren “Safari” TV ad. He continued to record original music and created mechanical reproductions of his piano recordings for playback in Yamaha Disklavier player-pianos. Isadar’s interest in mechanically re-produced music further developed into creating sound recordings of Regina, Polyphon, Symphonion, Troubadour, and Kalliope antique music boxes.
In March 2012, Grammy award winning guitarist and founder of Windham Hill Records, William Ackerman produced a solo piano project for Isadar at his Imaginary Road Studio in Windham County, Vermont. The project, titled “Reconstructed,” is a re-working and re-recording of tracks Ackerman felt were the strongest from the six solo piano albums Isadar released since 1990. After working together, Ackerman stated, “The music we recorded ranged from the achingly beautiful to the breathtakingly technical, all of this rendered expertly through the unique musical lens that Isadar offers us.” The album peaked at the #2 chart position of the Zone Music Reporter for June of the same year and was nominated for “Album Of The Month” for July, and subsequently nominated for “Album Of The Year” by the Spanish website, ReviewsNewAge. The album went on to be submitted for consideration into 5 categories for the 55th Annual Grammy Awards.
Isadar resides in New York City. He continues to write, record and make music videos to accompany his work as he has time, and is currently a manager within Sony Music Entertainment’s department of Vault and Archives. His music is globally distributed through iTunes.

Running up That Hill
Isadar Lyrics

Do you want to know, know that it doesn't hurt me
Do you wanna hear about the deal that I'm making
You, it's you and me
And if I only could, I'd make a deal with God
And I'd get Him to swap our places
Be running up that road, be running up that hill
And if I only could, oh
You don't wanna hurt me
But see how deep the bullet lies
Unaware I'm tearing you asunder
Oh, there is thunder in our hearts
Is there so much hate for the ones we love
Tell me we both matter don't we yeah
You, it's you and me
It's you and me, won't be unhappy
And if I only could, I'd make a deal with God
And I'd get Him to swap our places
Be running up that road, be running up that hill
Be running up that building
Say and if I only could, oh
You, it's you and me
It's you and me, won't be unhappy
Come on baby, come on darling
Let me steal this moment from you now
Come on angel, come on, and come on darling
Let's exchange the experience, oh
If I only could, I'd make a deal with God
And I'd get Him to swap our places
Be running up that road, be running up that hill
With no problems
And if I only could, I'd make a deal with God
And I'd get Him to swap our places
Be running up that road, be running up that hill
With no problems
If I only could, I'd make a deal with God
And I'd get Him to swap our places
Be running up that road, be running up that hill
With no problems
And if I only could
Be running up that hill
With no problems
If only I could, be running up that hill
If only I could, be running up that hill
The lyrics to Isadar's song "Running Up That Hill" are about the desire for a deep, transformative experience that allows two people to swap places and truly understand each other's pain and struggle. The singer speaks of the desire for a deal with God to make this possible, to "swap our places" and "be running up that road, be running up that hill." This exchange is seen as a way to alleviate the pain and hurt that they both feel, as they are tearing each other apart without even realizing it. The singer urges their partner to come together and exchange the experience, to find a way to truly connect and find happiness.
The lyrics are filled with poetic language that speaks eloquently to the human desire for understanding and connection. The repeated "if only I could" is a refrain that highlights the longing for something that seems impossible, yet still worth striving for. The thunder in their hearts and the deep bullet that lies between them are symbols of the emotional pain and hurt that they feel, which can only be healed through this transformative experience that they seek.
Overall, the song is a powerful expression of the desire to truly understand another person, and the lengths we might go to in order to achieve it. The lyrics are filled with depth and meaning, inviting the listener to reflect on their own experiences of pain and longing for connection.
