लगते थे सब को अच्छे

छोटी सी एक गुफा के अंदर
Inside a small cave

छोटा सा एक घर था
There was a tiny house.

उनके जीवन में ना कोई
In their lives, there was no

दुख ना कोई डर था
sorrow or fear.

माँ के लाडले थे वो
They were their mother's darlings,

बाप को जान से भी प्यारे
even dearer to their father than his own life.

हँसते गाते मौज उड़ाते
They laughed, sang, and played joyfully.

मिल के रहते थे सारे
They always stayed together.

क्या हुआ पापा बोलो ना

होनी ने जाल बिच्छाया
Honi (the lioness) laid a trap.

वाहा इक शिकारी आया
There came a hunter.

वो शेरनी सामने आई
The lioness came in front of him.

उसने बंदूक चलाई
He fired his gun.

वो शेरनी घायल हो गयी
The lioness got injured.

चिल्लाई तडपी सो गयी
She cried, struggled, and eventually slept.

उसने फिर आँख ना खोली
She never opened her eyes again.

सीने में लगी थी गोली
A bullet had pierced her heart.

लेकिन वो मरते मरते
But even while dying,

ये कह गयी चलते चलते
she said, while leaving,

मेरे साथी मेरे सजना
My companions, my loved ones,

इन बच्चो को प्यार से रखना
Take care of these children with love.

तुम बाप हो भूल ना जाना
You are their father, don't forget.

माँ का भी फ़र्ज़ निभाना
And fulfill the duty of their mother too.

हे बाप भला क्या जाने
Hey, father, what do you really know

माँ क्या होती है
about what a mother is?

बच्चो के संग कैसे
How she laughs and cries

हँसती कैसे रोती है
with her children.

उसने भी यूँ हँसना

रोना सिख लिया

हँसने गाने लगे
started laughing and singing.

मगर आ गया बाप आगे
But their father came forward.

शुरू हो गया इक दंगल
A fight began.

लगा काँपने सारा जंगल
The whole jungle trembled.

दरखतो पे जा बैठे बंदर
Monkeys climbed the trees.

छुपे साप भी बिल के अंदर
Snakes hid inside their holes.

कहीं उड गये सब कबूतर
Doves flew away.

चढ़े भालू परबत के उपर
Bears climbed atop the mountains.

लगे भागने डर के हाथी
Elephants started running in fear.

ना था शेर का कोई साथी
No one stood with the lion.

हुई खूब जम के लड़ाई
A fierce battle ensued.

बब्बर ने बहुत मार खाई
Babbar (the lion) suffered many blows.

तो बच्चो ने ताली बजाई
Then the cubs clapped in support.
