Celestial
Isis Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Remit
Remit the signal

The flood is coming down
I can't hold it back
I can't see her
I can't even breathe
Even breathe
Breathe

The individual
Will drifts into space
And the signal
Fills it's void

Void
Black hole

The eyes of greater size
Than all the oceans

Do you ever get that feeling that you're sinking ?
I do

Overall Meaning

The song "Celestial" by Isis is an emotional and introspective piece that speaks to the human experience of feeling overwhelmed and powerless in the face of life's challenges. The lyrics "remit the signal" serve as a metaphor for the need to release one's emotions and communicate with others in order to process and move through difficult times. The imagery of a flood coming down and the inability to hold it back speaks to the overwhelming nature of emotions and the need to surrender to them rather than resist. The lines "I can't see her, I can't even breathe" suggest feelings of isolation and suffocation, further highlighting the intensity of the emotions being experienced.

The second half of the song moves into more existential territory, with the mention of drifting into space and the void of a black hole. These images serve to illustrate the feeling of being adrift and lost in the vastness of the universe, and the idea that our individual struggles are just a small part of something much larger. The lines "The eyes of greater size than all the oceans" similarly suggest the idea of something larger and all-encompassing, while the question "do you ever get that feeling that you're sinking?" highlights the shared experience of feeling overwhelmed and the need to connect with others who understand.

I discovered this band by accident back in 2004. Then I became and instant fan and had the priviledge to see them play live 3 times.
They were AWESOME

I saw them twice - Indianapolis and then Milwaukee Metalfest - and then missed them for the Cave In fundraiser show a couple years ago because I saw system of a down and at the drive in embarrassed face
