The City
Isla Vista Worship Lyrics

What would it look like if the heavenlies broke through
When we say, "Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name"
"Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth the same"
You come runnin'
Yeah You come runnin'
Every chain will fall
'Cause Your love breaks them all
Every chain will fall
'Cause Your love breaks them all
Voices cry out, up out of the city
Shackled lives that, don't know that they're forgiven
What does it look like to see revival in the city
What would it look like if the heavenlies broke through
When we say, "Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name"
"Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth the same"
You come runnin'
Yeah You come runnin'
Every chain will fall
'Cause Your love breaks them all
Every chain will fall
'Cause Your love breaks them all
Hopes not dead
I feel it rising up again
I feel it rising up again
Hopes not dead
I feel it rising up again
I feel it rising up again
In Isla Vista Worship's song "The City", the lyrics explore the idea of revival and the possibility of a breakthrough from the heavens in a city that is longing to be free from the shackles of its past. The lyrics suggest that the power of prayer can bring about this revival, and that this can be achieved by calling upon the Father and asking for his kingdom to come and for his will to be done on earth as it is in heaven.
The lyrics also suggest that this connection with God can be made through worship, and that by doing so, we invite the Holy Spirit to come and break every chain that binds us. This connection with God and the Holy Spirit can help people feel forgiven, and ultimately, can lead to a greater sense of hope in the city.
"The City" speaks to the longing for a better future, a future where no one is shackled by their past, a future where hope is not dead, but is rising up again. The song encourages all those who hear it to believe in the power of prayer, worship, and the Holy Spirit, to bring about a change in their own lives and in the world around them.
