The band members met each other in late 2006 and comprises of members Marko Benini on Drums and Symbols, Richard Brokensha is the Vocalist and plays the Guitar, Alex Parker plays the Keyboard and Franco Schoeman is the Backing Vocalist and plays the Bass Guitar.

Richard Brokensha and Marko Benini first started jamming in a fusion band called Musick together with Alfredo Ridolfo, a visiting student on exchange from a university in Argentina. When Alfredo left the country, Richard and Marko continued jamming together. Their first solid song was recorded in Marko’s home studio.

In deciding on a name for the band, they "wanted a name that was orientated around time; in the end music is about manipulating time into sound waves" which led them to the idea of naming themselves Isochronous and in their words, the meaning of their band's name, can best be described as: We’re getting in sync with our own sound, our own time”.

Their progressive synth-rock sound was heavily influenced by bands such as Mew, Muse, Jeff Buckley, Deftones, The Mars Volta, and composers like Rachmaninov, Hans Zimmer and Victor Wooten.
