Its DEF a DRE beat! Yes, its different because he made it strictly for Rakim, an East Coast legend, not a West Coast legend. Dre can make all types of beats, depending on the artists and where they are from and their style. Yes, its a bit different than Rakim's usual beats, but I like it. Listen to what Rakim is rapping about....this proves his point he made (its on you tube) about Dre and him having creative differences.

I feel what you're saying n I have no argument there. However there are still those that think hip hop is all about rapping about killing and selling dope, especially these underground guys here in Detroit. They act like the shit is cool and they all sound the same to me. Rappers used to have their own style that seperated them from others. Rakim was one of them. Nas is another.

So what's the excuse for todays youth not listening to someone like Immortal Technique or Common?Their time sure as hell hasn't passed.If they had as much money as these big company's do,they'd be able to pay the radio stations to play their shit all day also. When I turn on the radio(not internet radio the REAL radio) in my car, I hear the SAME SHIT 10 TIMES a day when there's other greater artists out there who should be getting that airplay.There once was a little show called "Friday Night Flavaz" and another called "Sway and Tech".Don't know if you ever heard of them, but they were some of the best shows back in the day.That was quality.

@menace10100 intelligent analysis menace - my ears identify vintage style flow in a modern era i.e the revolutionizing of beats & musical arrangement. Ra needs to reinvent himself to be competitive. On a personal note, even when he did The Master & 18th letter - it had that 80's sound. It had acceptance cuz rap was just evolutionizing to a different genre (again change of beats lyrical content & flows). I heard snippets of his latest album - wasn't keen on it.

things change so much in HipHop. I was a sample producer from the age 13 to 22. there is a talent in it. Dr dre is one of my role models in it . Think samples think Kanye West, Dre, Premo, Dj Shadow. Now because of lawsuits, I don't sample at all. Does this make my music more creative, or less? I beieve it makes me less creative. It's the reason "taste"has gone down toilet!!!
