J.J. Band Lyrics

Hey There Pretty Woman
Following after me
Just like a flower searching for a Bee
Hey Pretty Woman
following after me
I say hey baby come sit and talk to me

Hey There Pretty Woman
Following after me
Just like a flower searchin for a Bee
Hey Pretty Woman
Following after me
I say hey baby come sit and talk to me

I like the way you look at me
Fine and Sexy as can be
With eyes of love that pierce my heart
You're just the one to tear it apart

Everybody says
You're too good for me
I could never be as true as need be
Hey Pretty Woman
Following after me
I say hey baby come sit and talk to me

When all the stories are told
You'll find they are just so old
Jealousy and hate surrounds us both
But we we know what it's worth

Everyday that passes
Closer we will be
Many women pass me
That I don't even see

Hey Pretty Woman
Come sit and talk to me

Overall Meaning

The J.J. Band's song "Pretty Woman" is a love story where a man is being followed by a woman who is as delicate and as charming as a flower. He calls her "Pretty Woman" and invites her to sit and talk with him. In the first stanza, the man acknowledges the woman's presence by saying that he knows she is following him, just like a flower searching for a bee. The second stanza is where he expresses his admiration for her beauty and charm, describing her as "Fine and Sexy as can be." The man falls for her piercing eyes and acknowledges that she has the power to break his heart.

In the chorus, the man tells "Pretty Woman" to ignore what people say about how she is too good for him, and he could never be as true as need be. He then invites her to sit and talk with him. In the last stanza, he talks about how despite the odds against them, they are getting closer each day, and he will always recognize her presence, unlike other women that pass him.

The song takes a very traditional approach to love, where a man is in pursuit of a woman, expressing his admiration for her. It is unclear if the woman is showing any interest in the man or if she may be stalking him. The song was inspired by Roy Orbison's hit "Oh, Pretty Woman," released in 1964. It was a chart-topping hit in Venezuela in 1975, where it remained in the top ten for several weeks.
