Iris
J.J. Project Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

And I'd give up forever to touch you
'Cause I know that you feel me somehow
You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be
And I don't want to go home right now

And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your life
And sooner or later it's over
I just don't wanna miss you tonight

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's meant to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming
Or the moment of truth in your lies
When everything feels like the movies
Yeah you bleed just to know you're alive

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's meant to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's meant to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's meant to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

I just want you to know who I am

I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am

Overall Meaning

These lyrics are not from the J.J. Project song Iris. They are actually from the song “Iris” by the Goo Goo Dolls. It's a powerful and emotional song that explores themes of longing, love, and the fear of being vulnerable. The first verse is about a person who is willing to give up everything they have just to be close to someone they care about. They feel like being with this person is the closest thing to heaven they will ever experience. They do not want to leave and go back to reality because it feels so good to be close to the person they love.

The chorus involves the fear of being seen as vulnerable. The person is afraid that the world won't understand their love and that they will be judged or rejected. They want their lover to know who they truly are, but they are afraid to show themselves to the rest of the world. The second verse explores the idea that life isn't always perfect, but it's worth it because of the special moments that we share with others. These moments help us feel alive, even during the tough times.

The song is ultimately about the fear and vulnerability that comes with love. It's about opening up to someone and taking a risk, even when it scares us.

29:50 - my addition to the multiverse theory is that perhaps the Chase in IRISVerse (not where Chase blips from in CHASE, the one we follow through interrogation in Anomaly) is already on I.R.I.S' radar but they have nothing to pin on him to bring him in, but when our Chase blips in and is reported as an anomaly they drag him straight into interrogation about ALTR114209. This would explain away why Chase is so persistent he doesn't know what they're talking about, but IRIS think/know he is lying and also bring in the multiverse more firmly. Could also explain why Chase is 'special'.

This needs some refinement, but I'm certainly more on the Multiverse Theory now than Time Loop (although I am kind of knitting all three of my main theories - Time Loop, Multiverse and Henrik's Fault - together).

I also think, since editing this, that if Chase's family are in a different multiverse then he thinks they're dead - perhaps Dark Silence brings a 'blast' of antimatter energy that he thinks he's responsible for, but when he comes around, the rubble remains of his house make him believe they were buried and killed in the fall out. Still a lot to refine on this too.

As I said, I can and will keep talking about this until my brain pours out of my ears xD

A more eloquent comment on EGOVerse vs IRISVerse:

Thinking about it from a out-of-story basis, in the 6 years since we first saw Anti the channel has likely doubled in sub numbers. Asking all of the new people to trail back through 6yrs of content to 'catch up' with the current ego lore is a lot to ask anyone to dedicate it - even I haven't managed it and I'm actively invested in it.

When the egos were all first made, they weren't entwined in this EGOVerse, they were one off funny parody characters for bits or not even characters at all (Jackie and Marvin), so their 'canon' is sporadic and probably doesn't fit the way more established versions of the characters that he has now

I think in May 2018 (egopocalypse) he started trying to write their story again, perhaps even trying to get all of the ego stuff that he'd already done (or all the stuff the community had made ego related) to match up, to fit this one story. In that time, we get way more Chase and Anti, but not Marv or Jackie because they didn't fit the story he was trying to tell about a man (Chase) fighting a demon (metaphorical or physical, however you interpreted Anti) dealing with losing his best friend, or even going through all the shit in his life without his best friend who's stuck in a coma

I genuinely believe that he stopped ego stuff in 2018 because he couldn't connect the dots; how does glitchy computer virus-esque Anti fit in Chase's mental battles? Hen could have fit as c!Jack's doctor, but a magician, a black/white entertainer and a superhero? How do they fit that narrative?

I think he was going for a grittier ego story, but the community demanded all the boys get involved. When he couldn't satisfyingly make that happen to tell the story he wanted to tell, he stopped.

Now we come back to it. He's refined the characters in his head., they're more his than ours now in IRIS (just freaking look at Anti), they don't follow what we think they will, and they don't play how we expect them to. Anti isn't tormenting us, breaking the fourth wall now, Anti is in the game, playing with the egos, and we are not a part of that anymore.

It's an interesting bridge - some people are going to hate it, some are going to embrace it and want to see where he, Seán, is taking these character we thought we knew and we think we love

So, to me, EGOVerse is what we've had before, it's the goofy pumpkin carvings and Anti breaking the fourth wall to taunt us, not the other egos, but IRISVerse - where we are now - we are purely an observer. And the deeper into the project he goes, with the plans he says he has/would like to do (TV shows, films etc.) we will become less and less a part of this story, and take our seats to enjoy the show

I don't think IRISVerse is related to JSE at all, apart from Seán is the creator of both.
