Beautiful lush tones. Do you still have the stock pickups in your JMJM in this video or they ones you swapped out? I know theres a few upgrades everyone seems to do on this guitar. I did watch your other videos of this guitar, you're probably the one that's really inspired me to buy one of these guitars within the next day or two.

Cool guitar. I own one. The neck pickup sounds great. I paid 360 for mine in the US. My buddy at Guitar Center got me a 10 percent off discount. Definitely Fender quality.

I absolutely agree. In fact, I almost didn't put up the Bassman version because I was disappointed with its miked sound. The Laney VH100R is a very great amp for a very good price, IMO.

I did put a Wilkinson roller bridge on mine to keep it in tune when using the vibrato but there is nothing wrong with keeping the stock tune o matic bridge.

Hey Brett, just a quick question - What are you favorite pickups? I figured I'd ask you, since you seem like the kind of guy who would've tried quite a few. :P I quite like the TV Jones classic, as well their DeArmond clones.

I'm looking for something new to put into my CIJ Jag HH.

The best Jag pickups I've tried are the Bareknuckles that ship with the Johnny Marr Jag. But they, of course, are not Humbuckers. TV Jones are great pickups but they're kind of dark sounding. I'd want to to try and retain some Jag spank if I was to put in humbuckers. Therefore, I would probably put Brierley Vintage/Moderns in, the very same pickups that I have in the Smitty Hog. They were spec'd by yours truly to deliver humbucker wallop with Telecaster attack and spank. And they most certainly do. See: http://www.brierleyguitarpickups.com.au/humbucker.htm for more info.

***** I was actually thinking of carving out a pickup adapter ring to put in a jag neck pickup, and keeping a humbucker in the bridge. I agree with the classics being a bit dark, but they are well rounded, but I think that makes them better suited for cleaner playing. Have you gotten a chance to hear the t-armonds? I'll check out those Brierleys for sure though, thanks! I would just have to worry about the outrageous shipping prices from AU->USA ;)

I don't know, sorry. I guess a P90 would be close but there's more spank in these than the average P90. That may also be due to the guitar's design, but I think we have something a little unique with these pickups. More enlightened viewers are encouraged to chip in, please.

Been looking to buy the Jazzmaster but they're hard to find in UK. Prices seem to have gone up too. Damn!!!

The prices went up about five months ago here in the U.S. my local shop told me when i bought one. They used to be US 299 for Squier vintage Jazzmasters and Jaguars; the J Mascis was USD $399. Now the regular ones are $399 and the J Mascis comes to about $450. A shop in Surrey appears to carry a lot of them, they are Andertons, perhaps you have seen their videos here? Of course you could be up in Scotland for all I know. They are always on Ebay, and sometimes you can find them for just under $399, and every now and then you'll see one at the old price.

We've seen some go for upwards of 8-900 dollars over here. If you find one - buy it. My only advice. Next year, good luck.

hello, can you tell me what is the original pots n caps, in the lead circuit? 1 meg k or 500 k pots? caps? mine have an original pups, and for me, the sound is too midrange, heavy output and little moody. I like to subtitute with another true single coil jazzmaster pups, but i stil confused about the pots and caps, specially in lead circuit. thanks before for your answer :)

I'm reviving this thread:) Got an offer on this amp, but apart from your video all I find is super compressed, gainy stuff.. not that I mind really, but what I need for this project is a great clean platform for pedals.. Did you do gig with this set-up.. is it worth getting? Also considering a Deville ML (Mike LandaU).. Not really a fan at all of the Hot Rod series, but that ML has decent cleans.. What is your take on this amp years after?

Thanks for the sub and welcome to the channel. FYI, that guitar, the board, the Laney amp and every single pedal bar the tuner were sold. I went to Fractal Audio for my live applications and I have never looked back. The pedals on this board were all great, but in the end I didn't need one of them.

@martinskanal I still love analog gear - I've used it since 1973! But the Fractal gear particularly just made my touring life infinitely easier and more reliable. They're all just tools, really. How you resolve your objectives can depend entirely on which ones you prefer and/or like to use.

One friend who went Fractal like you says it's a life changing experience (no less!). He gigs a lot, says something like this: "Now I've got everything I need in this little box, sound engineer knows exactly what to do, no unexpected failures, no burn-outs, no tube problems, no carrying heavy gear, I get pretty much the same sound on every stage - and if 0.03% of the crowd notice anything about the sound, it's because they hear with their eyes". Haha. It feels different to him, though - interacting with a digital platform IS different I guess, but for anyone listening I don't think it's possible to differentiate between a miked up tube amp and a good modeling based off that same amp. Not in a live mix anyway.

It looks like a real Fender, because really it is, but it doesn't feel like a Deluxe or a Custom Shop or anything of that caliber. It's a cheaper version and feels a little rawer and ready to rock. And I like that. /
