Rope
J. Masics Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
As you go through this trial
While I'm here I
Hope you won't forget
I am your rope
Know I'm so close
Don't let me go
And when it's hard to dream
Real friends can help you heal
So if it's a pain that you can feel
Then hold on to me
Don't know if you can smile
As you go through this trial
While I'm here I
Hope you won't forget
Don't know if you've got time
With a mountain to climb
While I'm here I
Hope you won't forget
I am your rope
Know I'm so close
Don't let me go
Don't let your rope go
And when it's hard to dream
Remember where you've been
Be pleased with friends you see
They give you a love that helps you be
So hold on to me
Don't know if you can smile
As you go through this trial
While I'm here I
Hope you won't forget
Don't know if you've got time
With a mountain to climb
While I'm here I
Hope you won't forget
I am your rope
Know I'm so close
Don't let me go
Don't lose your rope
Hold your rope today
Or I fly away
Hey it's okay
Tomorrow we will go
Slowly home
Don't know if you can smile
As you go through this trial
While I'm here I
Hope you won't forget
Don't know if you've lost sight
As the pain starts to bite
While I'm here I
Hope you won't forget
I am your rope
Know I'm so close
Don't let me go
In J. Masics's song "Rope," the lyrics speak to the power of friendship and support during difficult times. The singer acknowledges that the person they are singing to may be going through a trial and may not be able to smile. However, the singer wants to remind them that they are not alone and that they can hold onto the singer as their "rope." The lyrics suggest that having "real friends" can help heal, especially if the pain is something that can be felt. The repeated refrain of "Don't let me go" emphasizes the important role that the singer plays in providing support and encouragement.
The lyrics also acknowledge that the challenge ahead may be daunting, using the metaphor of a "mountain to climb." But despite the uncertainty and difficulty, the singer emphasizes their steadfast presence as a friend and supporter. The lyrics conclude with a hopeful outlook for the future, assuring the listener that they will slowly make their way home with the support of their friends.
Overall, the lyrics of "Rope" emphasize the importance of friendship and support during times of trial and difficulty, and the power of those connections in helping to heal and overcome challenges.

That Laney sounds incredible. Picked up a cheap VC30 212 combo recently and I adore it. So much headroom.
@thomasramsey6642
Wow I actually preferred the Laney, it took those amptweaker pedals very well, as well I was surprised that the jazzmaster matched the Laney perfectly. Thank you Brett for this and all your amazing demos, you got a fan out in Texas.

Beautiful lush tones. Do you still have the stock pickups in your JMJM in this video or they ones you swapped out? I know theres a few upgrades everyone seems to do on this guitar. I did watch your other videos of this guitar, you're probably the one that's really inspired me to buy one of these guitars within the next day or two.

Nice Brett- just today I was thinking about how Jazzmasters get very little attention, I love p90s myself. Sounds great, this WILL be my next guitar!! J Mascis is a legend too.
@deaneaxboy
Hey Brett, really love your demos. I'm currently going through few picks and wondering what you use and are you consistent with that or mix it up?
Thanks

Cool guitar. I own one. The neck pickup sounds great. I paid 360 for mine in the US. My buddy at Guitar Center got me a 10 percent off discount. Definitely Fender quality.

@shfnderrock
Love this demo more than the Bassman. Laney sounds almost3D and takes Overdives and Distortions brilliantly :))) good stuff
