The Brazilian rapper “Jota3”(J3) was born in Rio de Janeiro but moved to Vitoria, in the State of Espirito Santo where he remains established.
He performs as MC, songwriter and also as a self-made musician. The most remarkable thing in his work present in his first album called “Freestyle” ( Lona-2003 )is the fusion of hip-hop, reggae, bossa nova and jungle. His peculiar free style of random rhymes brings rhythm e to the Brazilian native hip-hop. He has notable influence of rock and roll. This can be felt in his songs arrangements as well as the special featurings of Formigão (Planet Hemp) and Rodrigo Lima (Dead Fish / Brazil HC).
Acoustic guitars, delay effects, raggas, acid synths, good noises and a welcome vocation for black music built a comfortable environment for the rapper’s vivid melody. In his creational moments he grabs his guitar and searches for rich harmonies, easy melodies, popular appealing and the traditional social criticism of the rap.
Member of the brazilian underground scene, he has lived in the USA (New Jersey and California) where he performed at hip-hop and hardcore concerts. He is considered one of the greatest local promises of hip-hop.
His live performances in Brazil are still committed with his first album. These live performances has two formats: with band or DJ.
Jota3 has also got involved with social projects in order to spread the hip-hop culture at community schools in the surroundings of the city of Vitoria.
