(All engines running)

We gon' take it to the moon, take it to the stars
How many people you know can take it this far?
I'm supercharged
We 'bout to take this whole thing to Mars (lift off)

Now we gon' take it to the moon, take it to the stars
You don't know what we been through to make it this far
So many scars
We 'bout to take this whole thing to Mars

(Lift off) lift off, takin' my coat off
Showin' my tattoos, I'm such a showoff, huh
I feel the pain and then rolled off
I got the whole city they about to go off
How many niggas with' me up and in this aisle?
How many people wanna roll with me now?
Like you know na na na, you know me by now
Know me, know me by now

We gon' take it to the moon, take it to the stars
How many people you know can take it this far?
I'm supercharged
We 'bout to take this whole thing to Mars

Now we gon' take it to the moon, take it to the stars
You don't know what we been through to make it this far
So many scars
We 'bout to take this whole thing to Mars (lift off, ah, ah)

Like you know na na na, you know me by now
Know me, know me by now
You know, know me by now
Know me, know me by now

Lift off, rappers hear watch the throne
They gon' be pissed off
Earth is boring to 'em
Shit is making my dick soft
When you Earnhart as me eventually you hit a big wall
Five, four, three, two we need fuel, lift off

Now we gon' take it to the moon, take it to the stars
How many people you know can take it this far?
I'm supercharged
I'm 'bout to take this whole thing to Mars

Now we gon' take it to the moon, take it to the stars
You don't know what we been through to make it this far
So many scars
'Bout to take this whole thing to Mars

Overall Meaning

In "Lift Off," JAY Z, Kanye West, and Beyoncé assert their power and success, claiming that they will take their success "to the moon" and "take it to the stars." They emphasize how challenging their journey has been, the hardships they have faced to get where they are, and the scars they have acquired as a result. In the first verse, they express their desire to take their success to a whole new level by going to Mars, further emphasizing their ambition and confidence in their abilities. Kanye West references his tattooed body, proclaiming himself as a show-off, and dismisses those who find Earth boring in comparison to his aspirations of achieving greater and bigger things. The last verse references a countdown (T-minus 15, 12, 11, 10...) and ends with a declaration of "Lift off, we have a liftoff," signifying the commencement of their journey.

One interesting fact about "Lift Off" is that it was produced by Kanye West, Jeff Bhasker, and Mike Dean. It was released as the final single from their collaborative album "Watch the Throne" which was released in 2011. Another interesting fact is that the song features additional vocals by Bruno Mars, Seal, Kid Cudi, and Mr. Hudson. "Lift Off" was initially performed during the "Watch the Throne Tour" in October 2011. The opening lines for the song ("All engines running") were previously used in the 1979 film "The Black Hole." Furthermore, the song title "Lift Off" is not only a catchy phrase but also a nod to the fact that JAY Z is a licensed pilot. In addition, "Lift Off" reached number 66 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at number 43 on the UK Singles Chart. Finally, the song has been used in commercials for the NBA, the WWE, the NFL, and the BBC.
