Lost in Space
JGivens Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

What it ain't, what it is
Hey kids, we gon' do it like this
Got an upper mission slip into the abyss
Take 'em on a field trip, from the Earth to the Moon
First to the zoo (church)
Take every jailbird and prisoner
Him, her, him, her, him, her, him, her, him, her, him
Two by two on a rocket ship
I-E-I-E-I-E-I
Old MacDonald on Apollo
Super novocaine
Don't nobody feel it, warning
Nobody want it, cold McDonald's
Noah, so it rained

Everybody's losing you
Losing you to space
Everybody's losing you
Losing you to space
Up and downs are calling you
Where no one else follows you
Everybody's losing you
Losing space
There's a room where the sun will never shine, and I'll
Find the seeds will grow straight out of our mind
All I know is everyone wants to watch their soul
So rest from drifting with your woes

I'm antisocial
When I need my space, then I ran like Flo-Jo
And I hid my face
And now I'm lost in space in a coffin, solo
Han Solo
ET better keep that phone on, ET better phone home
Gotta be wise like Sam when it ring like Frodo
Sabotage, crash land of God
Give a hand to God
Michelang-applause
Watch that H-A-N-D heal
Hand of God
Supermand of God
That's that M-A-N D. Steele
Without two or three it's proven usually
That a lack of community will lead you to be
The captain of your own space ship
No correctional scrutiny, shipwreck
Hijacked and attacked by a mutiny
Eulogy, run from God
Camoflage, when we ate the MacIntosh

Everybody's losing you
Losing you to space
Everybody's losing you
Losing you to space
Up and downs are calling you
Where no one else follows you

Everybody's losing you
Losing space

Overall Meaning

In JGivens's song Lost in Space, he starts the song off by telling the listeners what it isn't and what it is. He then takes them on a field trip from Earth to the Moon, where they first go to the "zoo" or church. JGivens then speaks about taking every prisoner and jailbird two by two on a rocket ship. "Super novocaine" is mentioned with the warning that no one will feel it because nobody wants it. The story of Noah and the ark is briefly mentioned in reference to rain.

The chorus is a repetition of the phrase "Everybody's losing you, losing you to space." He then speaks about a room where the sun will never shine and how the seeds grow straight from the mind. The line "All I know is everyone wants to watch their soul" could possibly be referencing how people are always searching for their purpose and meaning in life. He ends the song with references to Han Solo, ET, and God with the line "run from God, camouflage, when we ate the MacIntosh."

Overall, the song speaks on the idea of feeling lost and isolated in one's space. It touches on the feeling of detachment from the world and everyone around, a feeling that is increasingly common in the fast-paced modern world.
