V rokoch od rozpadu skupiny Cream v roku 1968 vydal Bruce množstvo sólových albumov, väčšinou v experimentálnejšom duchu, a spolupracoval so širokou škálou hudobníkov v mnohých žánroch. Na zozname sú Robin Trower , Tony Williams , John McLaughlin , Carla Bley , Allan Holdsworth , Ringo Starr a Frank Zappa . Bol tiež členom kapely West, Bruce and Laing .
V roku 1994 vydal album pod názvom kapely BBM (Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker a Gary Moore) s názvom Around the Next Dream.

Jack Bruce Lyrics

From going separate ways
Keep the harbor lights
Burning inside
The streets of old
Can't hear the names they call
Shelter from the cold
Where the past still tries to hide
Find the dusty sun sleeping
Trying to sail where rapids run
Riding our frail ships out to the sun
Playing for time, searching for signs
Save the eyes so bright
Can't stop the things they see
From closing in the night
Long ago, so far away
Where the fires spark and play
Keep the softest flame burning
Trying to sail where rapids run
Riding our frail ships out to the sun
Playing for signs, searching for time
Long ago, so far away
Where the fires spark and play
Keep the softest flame burning
In Jack Bruce's song "Golden Days," the lyrics depict a nostalgic longing for a bygone era, a time of brightness and comfort. The opening line, "Keep those golden days from going separate ways," suggests a desire to hold on to the beauty and unity of the past, to prevent the forces of change from tearing apart what was once cherished. The line "keep the harbor lights burning inside" conveys a sense of warmth and protection, a longing for a place of safety and familiarity in a world that has become uncertain and cold. The "streets of old" represent a time now lost, a place where people could find sanctuary, free from the chaos and noise of modernity.
As the song continues, the lyrics become more introspective, looking back at a time that was once filled with youthful optimism and possibility. The line "Where the past still tries to hide" suggests a desire to reconnect with a time when the world seemed full of promise. The image of the "dusty sun sleeping" evokes a sense of stillness and contemplation, a moment when one can reflect on past memories and experiences. The final verse repeats the same sentiment, "Long ago, so far away, where the fires spark and play, keep the softest flame burning." It's a plea to hold onto one's dreams and ideals, to never let the fire of hope die, even as the world around us changes and grows colder.
