Say It With Music
Jack Say and His Orchestra Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Say it with a kiss
It you mean that look I've seen
Say it with a kiss
There is wine and candle shine
And music in your lips
Music in the tops
Of your fingertips
Say it with a kiss
And your look might speak a book
That my eyes might miss
You don't have to know the words
To love's familiar tune
Say it with a kiss
And say it soon
In the first lines of the song, "Let me hear you say it. Say it with a kiss," the singer is urging their lover to express their love for them through a physical gesture. As he notes, even if his partner may not know what to say, they can still convey their feelings through a simple act. The lyrics describe how a kiss can be as powerful as the words themselves, as it reveals the feelings and emotions that may be difficult to put into words. The refrain, "Say it with a kiss," reinforces the message, emphasizing that physical intimacy can be a gesture of love and devotion.
As the song continues, the singer describes the romantic atmosphere around them, from the candlelight to the music in their partner's lips and fingertips. He acknowledges that "words may not convey it," but that the look on his partner's face can say everything he needs to hear. The song concludes with a final plea to "Say it with a kiss, and say it soon," driving home the message that the physical act of love is just as important as any words that could be spoken.
Overall, "Say It With Music" paints a picture of a romantic moment between two people in love, urging them to rely on physical gestures and actions to communicate their feelings. It is a timeless message that reminds us of the power of touch and intimacy in expressing love.

I remember his tv programme in 1950's. I know he had money troubles despite being a perfectionist (or hard taskmaster?) as this record (my scratchiest) shows. Some of the boys broke away and formed a band with the slogan) "Pleasure without the Payne"! It wasn't Jimmy Wornell was it?

Jimmy Wornell was not involved. During mid 1933 Jack Payne under doctors orders rested. The band was not paid during this period. The majority took up residence at the Road House on the Barnett by pass. When Jack heard they were all dismissed. Subsquently, they billed themselves as "Pleasure without Payne". Jack took out an injunction against them forbidding the use of the slogan. The band became known as The Barnstormers and made a few records on the (black) Winner and Sterno labels.
