McMorrow's second album, Post-Tropical, was released in January 2014. It was noted for its distinct shift in style from the nu-folk of his first album, leaning more towards electronica and ambient sounds. Two singles were released from the album - "Cavalier" and "Red Dust." The album reached the top 30 in the UK and the Netherlands; as well as peaking at number 2 on the Irish album charts.
Glacier

Caught between the railing, mirroring the beat
I no longer feel and the years asleep
Show no sense of hope, staring honestly
I wanna go south of the river
Glacier slow in the heart of the winter
I wanna go south of the river, facing alone in the heart of the winter
And this we'll celebrate, this we'll celebrate
There and on the stage, this is a mistake
Damn me off too long, down the earth and moon
Damn the clawing kneeling, rustling into change
In a moment I was caught, calling by a storm
In the moment of a hot
I wanna go south of the river
Glacier slow in the heart of the winter
I wanna go south of the river, facing alone in the heart of the winter
I'm not in a glove called how
Few became, few became as glory as along
Against the forest state and starting living in the new
Harrow since, harrow since the farthest
Reach underneath inside a cheat
Something is alive, somewhere underneath
Caught between the real and the fake
I don't want to fit, there and has been found
Silence is so cold, and there's no sense at all
And I was someone else, I was something good
Barely in the old, there among the cold
I wanna go south of the river
Glacier slow in the heart of the winter
I wanna go south of the river, facing alone in the heart of the winter
The lyrics of James Vincent McMorrow's song "Glacier" are cryptic, yet they seem to describe a person who is struggling to find their own identity and purpose in life. The reference to "someone here's a lie" implies that there is something fake or insincere about the person's current situation. At the same time, they are caught between the "railing" and the "beat", suggesting a sense of being trapped or limited by external forces.
As the song progresses, the singer expresses a desire to escape from this situation by going "south of the river", where they can find some kind of solace or refuge. The reference to the "glacier" suggests a sense of slow, steady progress towards this goal, perhaps through the hard work of self-discovery and self-improvement. Despite the difficulty of the journey, the singer seems determined to face it alone, in order to find their true self and purpose.
The final lines of the song are ambiguous, but suggest a kind of rebirth or renewal. The singer has become "someone else" or "something good", having shed their old identity and embraced a new one. The "cold" of silence has given way to a sense of warmth and hope, even amidst the bleakness of winter. Ultimately, the song is about the struggle for self-discovery and the power of perseverance in the face of difficulty and confusion.

Man or Woman, in one way or another we all walk down that lonely road.
You see the scares in her life, whether she has done good or bad.
Loneliness is a soul destroying thing.
Everyone deserves to be loved.

I remember being on a plane in August, 2016, when there was a fire in the cockpit, and we had to turn back and land in Dublin. And, afterwards, none of my classmates or supposed "friends" cared whether I had lived or died. Talk about loneliness, been there, done that. Grateful that I have a boyfriend now. The End.

Christ I have never heard something so profound in a long time
