Figured Me Out
Jamie Lidell Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

It's a mystery
How pieces of me
Can put back together
So easily
You strike me down
From my head to the ground
You thought I lost what you have found
You figured me out
You've shaken me down
So won't you tell me what I'm all about
Please oh-oh
Please

[Bridge:]
If I'm easy to read
Won't you tell me what I need
Cause I'm down on my knees
Begging you baby
Please ooh ooh
Please

[Chorus:]
I'm hypnotized by this world we live in
But you know which way my pendulum's swinging
With you I'm a loser winning

It's a mystery
How it could be
That you got the look to see right through me
But now I'm complete
Back on my feet
Stepping to the beat
You made so sweet

You figured me out
You've shaken me down
So won't you tell me what I'm all about
Please oh-oh
Please

[Bridge]

[Chorus]

Ordinary thoughts
Ever kind
Got me on a status
That crossed my mind
Possibly in another mind
Won't you come and make up my mind

[Chorus]

Overall Meaning

The song "Figured Me Out" by Jamie Lidell talks about a person who was once broken and fragmented but now feels complete and whole, thanks to another person whom they credit for figuring them out. The lyrics use a metaphor of being pieced back together, suggesting that the person was once in a state of disarray and has now been restored to a state of completeness. The song implies that this transformation happened because of the influence of another person, who seems to have had a profound impact on the singer's life.

The chorus of the song talks about feeling "hypnotized by this world we live in," which suggests that the singer has been caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life and hasn't taken the time to reflect on their own feelings and emotions. The second half of the chorus talks about being a "loser winning," which suggests that the singer has had some struggles and setbacks in their life but has come out stronger as a result.

The bridge of the song asks for help from the person who has figured the singer out, suggesting that they need guidance to continue on their journey of self-discovery. The final verse of the song talks about the singer's thoughts and how they're in a state of uncertainty and confusion. The singer is asking for someone to come into their life and help them make up their mind about certain things.

I heard this song on Music Choice too, reminded me of Jamiroquai with less disco and I LOVED it!

Jamie Lidell is AMAZING!!!!!!!! I started with his most recent self-titled album and I was hooked right off the bat. I really want to buy Multiply, Jim and Compass so badly because those albums are so superb. He just has all that fun, art and talent that's just lost in a lot of today's popular music. Really digging that synth sound.

I absolutely agree! His music is just awesome and he's so much more talented than those we hear on the radio. It's cool though....I wouldn't want to share him with the rest of the world anyways. Lol!
