Nowhere else I would rather be
It's the only place I know
Where you can witness tragedy
There's no time to wonder now
About who is right or wrong
We're gonna need some help to get things straight
So come on, bring your advice along,
There's no place like planet home
I wanna go now
If only we can make it right, planet home
I wanna go now
This blue sphere of talented dreams
Is heading for destruction
Illusions drip from every seam
It's just death by corruption
I heard there was a promised land
On planet home
2000 years they've been and gone
But still we don't know
Can't you see that there's no place like planet home
I wanna go now
If only we can make it right planet home
I wanna go now
I wanna go there baby
Find yourself some peace on planet home
I wanna go now
Anything's in reach on planet home
Planet home, planet home
Planet home is blue and green
Beautiful for you to see
Planet home is blue and green
Beautiful for you to see
Planet home is blue and green
Beautiful for you to see
Planet home is blue and green
I wanna go now
I wanna go now
Planet home I wanna go there, planet home
There's no place like planet home
I wanna go now
If only we can make it right, planet home
I wanna go now, hey I really wanna go now
Find yourself some peace on planet home
I wanna go now, I wanna go there baby
Anything's in reach on planet home
In "Planet Home," Jay Kay of Jamiroquai sings about the importance of taking care of the planet and the environment. He starts by praising Earth as the "only place" he wants to be, where "talented dreams" thrive, and tragedy is present. However, he warns that our planet is in danger due to "death by corruption," and we need to work together to fix it. He then makes a reference to the "promised land" mentioned in the Bible, which we have yet to discover 2000 years later. The chorus repeats multiple times that there is no place like Planet Home, and he wants to go there now to find peace.
The song suggests that humans are the cause of many of the planet's problems, and we need to take responsibility and initiate change. The lyrics acknowledge that getting things straight might not be easy, but it is necessary. Kay offers a call to action for humans to "bring [their] advice along," indicating that it won't be done by only one person or group, but through collaboration and communication to solve the problems that face the planet.
In summary, "Planet Home" is an ode to the beauty of Earth and the call to action to care for it, recognizing that fixing the planet's issues will not be easy. It speaks to the importance of working together and bringing ideas to the table to create change.
