Never Gonna Let You Go
Jarvis Church Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I say stay you say no, your heart is tired and heavy
Don't give up we'll work it out
Don't give in to all your doubt
Cause I'm never gonna let you go I told you, I told you
Cause you're the only thing I want when I hold you, when I hold you
Why are you so afraid of being the one who gets their heart broken
That you would throw it all away
you're all I know
Try to understand, times get hard
Take my hand and drop your guard
Cause I'm never gonna let you go I told you, I told you
Cause you're the only thing I want when I hold you, when I hold you
I'm never gonna let you go even if you tell me so cause that's my word I gave to you
When I told you that I do, that I do
Don't give up we'll work it out
Don't give in to all your doubt
[Chorus x2]
In the song Never Gonna Let You Go, Jarvis Church addresses a partner who seems to have given up on their relationship. The first line of the lyrics set the tone for the message of the song, stating that there are still sixty-five years ahead and yet, the partner is already mentally and emotionally walking away. The singer pleads with their partner to stay and to not give up on the relationship. The partner's heart is heavy, and they are filled with doubt, but the singer is committed to making it work out. In the chorus, they promise to never let go and assert that their partner is the only thing they want when they hold them.
The singer is aware of their partner's fear of heartbreak, but they assure them that they are willing to fight for their love. The singer lets their partner know that they are all they have and that they would never be the one to let them go. They encourage their partner to take their hand, drop their guard, and trust them to work things out. The song's message is one of commitment, patience, and trust. The singer believes that they can make it work and is willing to put in the effort to prove it.
