After leaving PWL in 1991, Jason starred in a revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical 'Joseph & His Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat'. His version of the show's 'Any Dream Will Do' reached the UK #1 spot.
After numerous film and television projects Jason signed to Polydor Records and recorded a third album, "All Around The World", in 1993. This album was never released in his homeland Australia. The album was preceded by a UK Tour and 2 hit singles; "Mission Of Love" and a cover of "As Time Goes By". By the time the album was released, interest had dried up. The final single "All Around The World" was released in 1993.
Despite a high public profile, Donovan's star faded very quickly after his West End success. Indeed, for a brief period, Donovan was on the receiving end of open hostility from the same LGBT community which had supported his PWL era career after he sued a UK magazine for libel after it suggested - falsely - that Donovan may be homosexual.
Donovan is partnered with Angela Malloch, and they have two children together. He now works as the Heart.fm radio studios which broadcasts across the country

Drew back the curtain
To see for certain
What I thought I knew
Far far away
Someone was weeping
But the world was sleeping
I wore my coat
(I wore my coat)
With golden lining
(Ahah)
Bright colours shining
(Ahah)
Wonderful and new
And in the east
(And in the east)
The dawn was breaking
(Ahah)
And the world was waking
(Ahah)
Any dream will do
A crash of drums
A flash of light
My golden coat
Flew out of sight
Colours faded into darkness
I was left alone
May I return
(May I return)
To the beginning
(Ahah)
The light is dimming
(Ahah)
And the dream is too
The world and I
(The world and i)
We are still waiting
(Ahah)
Still hesitating
(Ahah)
Any dream will do
Any dream will do
A crash of drums
A flash of light
My golden coat
Flew out of sight
Colors faded into darkness
I was left alone
May I return
(May I return)
To the beginning
(Ahah)
The light is dimming
(Ahah)
And the dream is too
The world and I
(The world and i)
We are still waiting
(Ahah)
Still hesitating
Any dream will do
Any dream any dream any dream

The lyrics of Jason Donovan's "Any Dream Will Do" are a reflection of the human quest for self-discovery and fulfillment. The singer is seeking greater meaning and purpose in life by searching for answers in his dreams. He begins the song by closing his eyes and drawing back the curtain of his mind's eye to see what he thought he knew. In this state of introspection, he heard someone weeping but the rest of the world was sleeping, indicating there are deep human emotions that are often ignored.
As he continues his journey, he wears a golden-lined coat with shining bright colors that represent hope and a new beginning. He describes the dawn breaking in the east and the world waking up from its slumber. The singer believes that any dream will do to give him direction, purpose, and meaning in life.
However, in a sudden turn of events, his coat flies out of sight and the colors fade into darkness, leaving him alone. Despite this setback, he still desires to return to the beginning to try again, even though the light is dimming and the dream is fading. The outside world is still waiting and hesitating, and in the end, any dream will do. The song is a reminder that we need to keep searching and dreaming, even if the road seems hard and the destination is unknown.
