Wear Your Sign
Jason Mraz Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
To never get a chance to grow there
Wear your sign
Wear your sign
I will wear my crown of thorns
And watch the storm break around you
Where's your sign
Is only mine
Innocent, innocence
The father tossed you around some
And mother lost you
Where's the sign now
In Jason Mraz's song Wear Your Sign, the lyrics seem to evoke themes of innocence, loss, and the search for identity. The opening lines, "Heaven seems a wasted place / To never get a chance to grow there" suggest a sense of yearning or longing for something beyond this earthly plane, but also a frustration at not being able to fully experience or thrive in that higher realm. The repetition of the phrase "Wear your sign" could be interpreted as a call to embrace one's unique identity and purpose, or to make a mark on the world that reflects that individuality.
The following lines, "I will wear my crown of thorns / And watch the storm break around you / Where's your sign / Where's your sign, love / Is only mine" offer a more personal and possibly romantic narrative. The image of the crown of thorns suggests a sense of suffering or sacrifice, perhaps in the name of love or loyalty. The question "Where's your sign" could be seen as a challenge to the other person in the relationship to assert themselves or show their true colors. Overall, there is a sense of vulnerability and intensity in the lyrics, as if the singer is grappling with deep emotions or existential questions.
